The 3-man battle for the starting QB position for the Miami Dolphins is officially over. In his daily press conference with the media yesterday, Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin named rookie Ryan Tannehill his starting QB. Tannehill becomes the 4th rookie QB who’s been given the nod as the starter for the 2012 NFL season. He joins Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, and Brandon Weeden, who were all named starters earlier this year. After David Garrard went down with an knee injury 2 weeks ago, it became a 2-man battle between Tannehill and Matt Moore. Tannehill has outperformed Moore both on the practice field and in the Dolphins first two preseason games. Tannehill hasn’t been amazing in the preseason but he’s shown that he has enough talent to be given the opportunity to start. The Dolphins made the right move in naming Tannehill the starter. He’s going to struggle in 2012 but the experience should help him succeed in the coming years. For more information on Tannehill being named t...

Tannehill named Dolphins starter

The QB competition is over in Miami, at least for now, as the team has come out and said that their first round rookie will be under center week one.

Nothing wrong with Andrew Luck's arm strength

Before the 2012 NFL draft a few highly regarded (along with more than a few not-so-highly-regarded) pundits openly questioned Andrew Luck's arm strength leading some to project Robert Griffin III as a better prospect. Luck's camp and preseason thus far has started to answer those questions. George Bremer of the Herald Bulletin notes Adam Vinatieri has seen some of the best...

Luck's strong play in preseason continues

PITTSBURGH -- There's luck and there's Andrew Luck and there's the Indianapolis Colts. Put the three together and the combination seems destined to win many, many games for many, many years. Which has to have the front office and coaching staffs of 31 other teams bemoaning the Colts luck. All those years they play with Peyton Manning at quarterback, then Manning gets...

Naming Ryan Tannehill the Starter is the Wrong Call for the Miami Dolphins

Despite having two quarterbacks on the roster who have NFL experience, Joe Philbin has made the decision to start rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill for week one in Houston. And I think it’s a horrible decision. I know a lot of the experts are saying that they’re behind the choice and that Miami is clearly not going anywhere this year, so let the kid play. But for a franchise...

Ryan Tannehill Named Miami Dolphins Starting Quarterback for Week 1

DAVIE, Fla. -- With his NFL debut still more than two weeks away, Ryan Tannehill can already boast of an achievement unprecedented among Miami Dolphins quarterbacks: He won a starting job in his first training camp. New coach Joe Philbin gave Tannehill the job Monday, meaning the Dolphins will have a rookie QB start a season opener for the first time when they play at Houston on...

Ryan Tannehill Named Dolphins Starter

Head coach Joe Philbin has named rookie Ryan Tannehill the Dolphins' starting quarterback for Week 1. Fantasy Spin: Tannehill has outperformed 2011 starter Matt Moore so far in camp and the preseason, and the Texas AM product gives the Dolphins the best chance to win. But keep fantasy expectations low, as Miami fields a weak receiving corps and Tannehill is still just a rookie.

Tannehill named Dolphins starter

The Miami Dolphins have their man. After a relatively brief competition with Matt Moore and David Garrard, Ryan Tannehill was officially named the Dolphins starting quarterback by head coach Joe Philbin on Monday. After Tannehill started the  ’Phins second preseason game and played relatively well, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Tannehill knows offensive coordinator...

Redskins' RG3 shows inexperience , Brian Orakpo, Brandon Meriweather injured

After showing Washington Redskins fans last week that he can make plays and find open receivers, Robert Griffin III was bound to have a game where he looked like a rookie. That happened Saturday night against the Chicago Bears. With Griffin under center for six first-half drives the Redskins scored just three points with five first downs. He was sacked three times for a loss of...

Standing Out: Players Who Took a Step Forward Against the Steelers

As the first roster cuts approach next Tuesday, which players are impressed last night?  Andrew Luck Luck was a little jittery for...

Bump and Run Coverage: Ryan Tannehill and Jake Locker Take Charge
