And the long and winding road of Peyton Manning’s potential turn to the NFL takes yet another strange yet compelling turn.

“Secret” video has surfaced of Manning throwing at Duke. I say “secret” because you’ll see how stalkerish it looks, as pointed by Doug Farrar, but it undoubtedly did not appear by accident, as Bob Kravitz noted.

So here it is, video of Peyton Manning throwing.

Now it’s time for snap judgments based on this grainy, far away footage:

He looks pretty good to me.

The biggest knock on Manning’s potential comeback is that while he has been cleared for contact his arm strength hasn’t yet returned. Kravitz even referred to Manning’s arm as a “noodle” – though the later capitulated a bit on that description.

Over to the right...that's Peyton...I swear!

As everyone knows, if Manning is Manning then the Colts have a much more difficult decision to make. He also becomes, if they release him, the greatest free agent in NFL history.

Peyton is only one year removed from putting the Colts totally on his back and carrying them to the playoffs – essentially the same team that totally collapsed without him this year.

So yeah, a healthy Peyton Manning is still among the best quarterbacks playing today, and one of the best quarterbacks to ever play. This is the best evidence yet that maybe, just maybe, we haven’t seen the last of Peyton Manning.

For all football fans, that has to be a relief.
