A comical event happened near the end of Denver’s 30-23 victory over San Diego on Sunday afternoon.
Down by just one score with time still on the clock (0:17 before the play and 0:08 after the play), Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers walked off the field after being sacked by Denver’s Elvis Dumervil—eliminating any chance of stopping the game clock.
With all of his receivers down field, it would have been hard for Rivers to get the offense back to the line of scrimmage in time to stop the clock, but with a competitive nature, it’s a little surprising that he wasn’t even compelled to get it a try.
After being sacked four times, fumbling three times and throwing two interceptions, maybe Rivers wasn’t compelled to do anything but get off the field. And that he did.

Go ahead and stick a fork in the 2012 San Diego Chargers, they are done. The season is over and it’s once again time to start speculating on the next season and what might be in store. The Denver Broncos appear to be in the driver’s seat of the AFC West and Chargers fans are left wondering what the future holds. In recent years, head coach Norv Turner has drawn the ire of the...
Even the San Diego Chargers are saying it: the Denver Broncos are playing solitaire in the AFC West now.
''We can't hang our hat on Denver doing anything from a collapsing standpoint,'' quarterback Philip Rivers said after the Chargers' 30-23 loss Sunday dropped them three games behind the Broncos, who essentially own a four-game cushion by virtue of their...
While he was able to return to the practice field Friday for
the San Diego Chargers, running back Ryan Matthews is considered a game-time
decision for today’s matchup against the Denver Broncos. There’s a chance
Matthews will suit up for San Diego, but offensive lineman Jared Gaither is
considered doubtful to play due to a groin injury.

It was an odd sight when the Denver Broncos took to the field in hosting the San Diego Chargers in a key AFC West battle in mid-November. Instead of a somewhat typical November day with cold, possible snow and other inclement weather, the temperature at game time was 62 degrees and sunny. For Denver, they wanted to extend their winning streak to five and take complete control in...
San Diego tailback Ryan Mathews will get the start Sunday against Denver. Mathews was limited in practice this past week because of a stiff neck.Fantasy Spin:It doesn't appear Mathews will be on a "pitch count" either so fantasy owners can expect him to see his usual workload. Start him as you normally would.

The Headline: Manning and co complete the sweep of the Chargers
Boy you would hate to be an NFL coach sometimes wouldn’t you, after just saving your job two weeks prior by beating possibly the worst team in the league, then blowing a winnable game; you just have to travel to Peyton Manning’s place. Sure that seems so easy to do, what with...
As fans of our respective teams and a community of football fans and analysts we are quick to talk about which coaches are on the ‘hot seat’; who is likely to lose their job and what we’d do if we held the keys to a franchise without considering the actual ramifications of making that decision. …

Bad news for San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers—both Elvis Dumervil a D.J. Williams are active for Denver’s defense today.
