49ers tight end Vernon Davis has just four catches in his last three games, none of which hurt as bad as this one near the goal line in Sunday’s NFC West showdown. Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor laid a smack on Davis that took him off the field, and later on, out of the game. Take a look. Just as the title of the video says, it was a completely legal, NFL rules-abiding hit by Chancellor, but not a single referee thought so, as three flags came flying in after the play. At this point, NFL needs to change the rules. It’s apparent that it’s not only helmet-to-helmet hits that are drawing flags, but all violent hits. If the refs are calling it that way, then it should be in the rulebook that way, no ifs, ands or buts about it. If the rules are staying the same, then something has to be done, possibly the ability for a coach to challenge the flags on the hits, and more tightly worded rules. Let’s hope the NFL can take care of this ever-growing problem in the off-season. The post VIDEO: Vernon Davis hammered by Kam Chancellor appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.
