Tweet The Minnesota Vikings quarterback carousel apparently will continue, after starting QB Christian Ponder suffered a dislocated shoulder in Minnesota’s Thursday night win over the Washington Redskins, per head coach Leslie Frazier. Ponder was injured diving for the end zone in the third quarter and left the game in the third quarter after completing 17 of 21 passes for 174 yards, two touchdowns and throwing one interception. Matt Cassel replaced Ponder for the remainder of the game. Ponder plans to play in the Vikings next game against the Seahawks, despite the injury. “My expectation is to be back next week,” Ponder said. “We have a great training staff.” Ponder’s courage and willingness to come back as soon as possible is admirable, but he’d probably be better served to fully heal before rushing back so soon. The Vikings are currently 2-7 and all but mathematically eliminated from the postseason. No matter who is under center for Minnesota, their 2013 season is basically lost. Ponder may want to focus on selling that nice Lake Minnetonka home of his and figuring out where he’ll be playing in 2014. -ALR
