The Minnesota Vikings have announced the signing of free agent linebacker Marvin Mitchell. Terms were not disclosed. A seventh round pick out of Tennessee by the New Orleans Saints in 2007, Mitchell has 119 tackles, two sacks and an interception in 71 career games with the Saints (2007-10) and Miami Dolphins, where Mitchell recorded 18 tackles, one sack and picked up his first career interception while playing around 16 percent of the defensive snaps. Mitchell ranked second on the 2011 Dolphins with 12 tackles on special teams, a phase of the game where Mitchell has recorded 50 of his 119 career tackles and where his impact is mostly likely to be felt in Minnesota. The Vikings lost key special teams performer Kenny Onatolu when they failed to tender a qualifying offer and lost him to the Carolina Panthers. Onatolu had 11 special teams tackles while playing in over 60 percent of the special teams snaps last season.

Minnesota Vikings Sign Middle Linebacker Marvin Mitchell

On March 16, linebacker Kenny Onatolu signed a three-year contract with the Carolina Panthers. While not an every day, household name, Onatolu was to the Vikings what Corey Graham was for the Bears. That being a player, who has plenty of talent, but is not worthy of starting. Instead, these Onatolu and Graham are two of the best special teams players on the planet. While no longer...

Why are the Dolphins a losing team with no cap space?

As much as the Miami Dolphins don’t want to admit it, they are in rebuilding mode.  And they should be.  Why?  Because the team has gone 7-9, 7-9, and 6-10 over the last 3 seasons and the roster needs more talent.  The Dolphins don’t want to tell us that they’re rebuilding because rebuilding means patience….and [...]

Will the Dolphins ever “Wake” up? Cameron Wake starts holdout for new contract

As if the Miami Dolphins don’t have enough problems, their top defensive player Cameron Wake is holding out for a new contract. Wake, a former CFL star turned NFL beast, isn’t happy with his contract and wants to get paid. Wake is a steal at $650,000 and he knows it. Don’t count on him to think being in the NFL is enough; he has shown he belongs in the elite pass rushing...

Adrian Peterson Gives Back $1 Million To University of Oklahoma

While most of the NFL world turned its attention to one of the dirtiest stories in league history, the University of Oklahoma announced last Thursday that the school’s third all-time leading rusher had given back $1 million to the university. Adrian Peterson’s pledge comes nearly eight months after signing a record-breaking contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings, which...

Brock Osweiler visiting the Dolphins

On Monday, Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler menionted on his Twitter feed that he had just landed in Miami, Florida.  He’s clearly there to visit with the Dolphins, who could end up taking him in this year’s draft. Osweiler has the physical tools to be a good NFL quarterback, but since he is coming out of school a year early and is clearly not ready to play right away...

Taking Care of Business

Phillip Merling and Lydon Murtha may have been restricted free agents this offseason, but it became practically a done deal that they would be back after the Dolphins extended qualifying offers to both players. On Tuesday, it officially became a done deal when both players signed their tender.

This is Where "Building Through the Draft" Gets You

I was browsing through this article over at Daily Norseman, trying to find something to write about for you nerds, when I finished (on your mom's face!) and left the posting feeling rather miffed.
