As Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield heads into his 13th year in the National Football League, the three-time Pro Bowler wouldn't mind if the lockout ended in September, reports Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "If we dont miss any games, if we get this deal done right before Sept. 11 or whenever we play our first game, it would be perfect with me," said Winfield. "After being in the league 10-plus years, this will be my 13th year, I wouldnt mind missing training camp." Winfield admitted that he'd be "worried"if the lockout lingered into training camp and the pre-season, but reiterated his preference for something to get done after camp with no games lost, the soon-to-be 34-year old cornerback is scheduled to earn $6.75 million in base salary next season, or $397,059 per week. While the NFL's attorneys may want to use Winfield's comments against the NFLPA, it's important to keep in mind that Winfield is not the typical NFL player. A former first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 1999, Winfield is on his third NFL contract, with his last two having total values in excess of $30 million each. For a non-quarterback, that's longevity and compensation rate is the exception, not the rule.
