Minnesota Vikings fullback Jerome Felton was suspended by the NFL Monday for the first three games of the 2013 regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Felton, who earned his first Pro Bowl appearance last season while blocking for MVP running back Adrian Peterson, is suspended without pay and is eligible to return following Minnesota's Week 3 game at home against the Cleveland Browns. Felton's first game will be Week 4 in London as the Vikings host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the league's annual international series. Felton has been out for the past week while recovering from an emergency appendectomy on the final day of training camp in Mankato, Minn. Felton was expected to return for the start of the regular season from the appendectomy, but now will be held out longer. Felton's suspension will start on Aug. 31, the day NFL teams must reach their 53-man active roster for the season. Felton signed a three-year, 7.5 millioncontract this offseason. The past 24 hours haven't been kind to the Vikings, who also lost defensive tackle Kevin Williams to a knee injury in Sunday's third preseason game at San Francisco. Williams was to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging test to determine the severity of his injury. Follow Brian Hall on Twitter
