Though more roster movement might materialize once coaches identify needs after hitting the field in Mankato, the Vikings have made enough roster moves to enter the undergo the first week of training camp.
The team's roster ballooned to 89 players on Sunday after signing all 10 rookies and announcing the signing of eight veterans, including veteran offensive tackle Scott Kooistra. For the Vikings, the plan for the next few days or weeks is twofold -- identify which free agent veterans can fill in on short notice, and work to extend two marquee players, linebacker Chad Greenway and running back Adrian Peterson.
Peterson showed up to camp at Minnesota State University just before 4 p.m. He was unavailable for comment, but his presence quelled speculation about a potential holdout as he enters the last year of his rookie contract.
