The Minnesota Vikings have placed wide receiver Percy Harvin on season-ending IR due to an ankle injury, reports Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. The Vikings placed Harvin on injured reserve Wednesday with an ankle injury that never recovered. Reports suggested Harvin suffered a ligament tear. It was reported yesterday that Harvin’s ankle injury he sustained Nov. 4 during a contest against the Seattle Seahawks was more severe than initially thought. Rather than simply a sprained ankle, the wide receiver was reportedly dealing with a torn ligament. Harvin proved to be the Vikings’ top wide receiver this season, as even after missing several weeks due to injury he continues to lead the team in receptions and receiving yards. On the season Harvin has caught 62 passes for 677 yards. Harvin is likely to seek a new contract this offseason given his production and skill set, according to Rosenthal.
