With the Minnesota Vikings' first pick of the first round, at number 23, they jumped on the chance to select Florida's Sharrif Floyd, who surprisingly was still available. Overall, it was a big night for Minnesota, who via trades, were very busy with three picks. Sharrif Floyd was a junior who decided he was ready and declared for the NFL Draft with hi stock as high as it could be.  Floyd is use to the exposure as he was a High School American coming from Philadelphia, PA and was invited to the US Army All American game.  He was voted the #1 defensive tackle prospects in 2010, when he chose to play for the Florida Gators.  While at Florida he started playing as a freshman as he registered 23 tackles with 6.5 for a loss while playing DT.  He was moved to defensive end for his sophomore where he earned his first career sack in the Gator Bowl vs. Ohio State.  He was moved back to DT for his junior year where he showed from his performance (31 tackles, 19 solo, 8.5 tackles for a loss). The Positive: Floyd the defensive tackle can move around with his versatility on where he can line up on the field. He  fits as a 4-3 DT and has the potential to play 3-4 DE later in his career. Floyd holds the point of attack and hard to move when he uses the proper technique. Not an overpowering player instead uses his athletic ability to shed blockers. Doesn’t have top shelf pass rush skill and would be better at defensive tackle. The Negative: Floyd is not always loose and he has struggles when turning the corner around an offensive tackle. He will need to be coached up in the NFL, while he is very versatile; he's not elite in any phase. Sharrif doesn’t get much push against the run and he fares better when he sheds his blocker and flows towards the football.  NFL Pro Comparison: San Diego Chargers DT Corey Liuget More Videostat Profiles
