EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The Minnesota Vikings signed undrafted rookie Joe Banyard to their practice squad Tuesday after running back Jordan Todman was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars and placed on their active 53-man roster.
Banyard, 24, spent time with the New Orleans Saints earlier this season but never played in a game and was waived in September. He was originally signed out of UTEP by Jacksonville but was released during the summer.
In his final season at UTEP, Banyard -- 5-foot-11 and 213 pounds -- ran for 832 yards and six touchdowns.
Todman had spent more than a year with the Vikings but hadnt gotten any game action. In the teams final preseason game this year, he had 114 yards rushing on 10 carries, including a 76-yard touchdown run. He had spent the entire regular season on the practice squad.
