In a season full of them, Sunday might qualify as the Minnesota Vikings' most disappointing loss of the season.
Minnesota has had plenty of interesting, sometimes embarrassing, losses. Meanwhile, the Vikings are still finding new, strange ways to lose and Sunday's 34-28 loss at Detroit might not be topped. The final play might have summarized the entire season.
Just one week ago, Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier stepped to the podium at his press conference following the Vikings' loss to the Denver Broncos and was as critical as he's ever been about the play of his secondary.
With Tim Tebow in the rear-view mirror and Matthew Stafford ahead of the Vikings last week, Frazier sent out a warning: "(The Lions have) a prolific...
The Vikings may be losers but at least they’re entertaining losers. For the second straight week they hung with a playoff team and had a chance to win it late, only to watch a turnover end their hopes for a thrilling upset. Things got crazy for the Vikings in the second half, starting with Christian Ponder being benched (maybe to protect his injured hip, maybe to protect Leslie...
Matthew Stafford continues to light up the Vikings.
The Minnesota Vikings are without running back Adrian Peterson for a third straight game. Peterson is on the inactive list Sunday at Detroit with a sprained left ankle and Toby Gerhart took his place on the depth chart. Minnesota did have quarterback Christian Ponder in the lineup. The rookie was questionable because of a hip pointer.
Backup quarterback Joe Webb replaced Christian Ponder with the Vikings down 31-14 in the third quarter. The Vikings came within 1 yard of victory against the Detroit Lions and lost on a controversial final play.
It would be fitting, we suppose, if a team that spent much of the early part of the season blowing big leads would erase a big deficit and emerge with a win. In Detroit, the Vikings have pulled to within 10 points of the Lions after a 65-yard touchdown run by quarterback Joe Webb, who…
Over the weekend, Detroit cornerback Alphonso Smith intercepted a pass by Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder and returned it for a touchdown.
After scoring, Smith decided to celebrate by doing a "Thriller" celebration:

Monday marks the one-year anniversary of an event many people believed was unthinkable - even in a year full of various distractions - as the 30-year-old Metrodome collapsed under the weight of a mid-December snowstorm.
Some Vikings players reflected on their memories of that moment, as the roof collapse became the latest in a seemingly never-ending...
A minor technical snafu (I didn't press record right away) chopped off the intro and the first minute or so, but here's this week's Fireside Chat. A strange and bizarre-feeling win, but . . . yes, a win. Subscribe (and rate!) via iTunes if you are an iTunesy person like myself.
The Lions didn't have an answer for Joe Webb.
