Vikings Now:
Just call Brett Favre a Vikings coaching consultant. In an interview with his alma mater, quarterback Joe Webb revealed he's working out in Hattiesburg, Miss., with Favre, and let's assume Favre is teaching him more than cell phone etiquette.
The 41-year-old Favre, who somehow still faces yearly speculation about whether he'll return for a final season, appears to be done with football after a 2010 Vikings season plagued by injuries and interceptions. Webb working with Favre should be viewed as a positive considering Favre's experience with the West Coast offense and overall football acumen. Favre has chosen to work with young quarterbacks such as No. 1 pick Cam Newton and Webb this offseason, just a handful of years after failing to tutor Aaron Rodgers the way some had expected.
"It's great to have a person like that as my contact," Webb told the Alabama-Birmingham's media relations department. "He can still sling it."
