MINNEAPOLIS -- In NFL circles, John Sullivan was expected to be highly sought after in the upcoming off-season. The Minnesota Vikings weren't about to let Sullivan look elsewhere. Minnesota sewed up Sullivan, a fourth-year center, to a contract extension Saturday. Terms of the extension weren't specified. "We are excited about the future of John Sullivan," said Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier in a statement. "He has quickly become a leader among the offensive linemen. John is having an outstanding 2011 season, and he is a big part of why our rushing attack is near the top of the NFL." Sullivan, 26, joined the Vikings as a sixth-round draft pick out of Notrew Dame in 2008. He became the starting center in 2009 and has appeared in 58 games, making 42 starts. The Connecticut native has helped the 2011 Vikings rank fourth in the NFL in rushing through 14 games. "Over the last four years, John has contributed in countless ways to the Vikings," noted owner Zygi Wilf. "He has been very active in the community, along with being a key member along our offensive line. "John is a bright young man," Wilf added, "and we are fortunate to have him in the Vikings organization."
