Jared Allen may be spared of enduring the rest of the Vikings' woeful campaign.
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday that Allen could be traded by Tuesday's 4 p.m. deadline.
The Vikes are asking for "the right price" -- more than a third-round pick -- in exchange for the perennial Pro Bowl defensive end.
As Glazer notes, a 2014 third-round compensatory pick is what the team would likely receive if Allen, whose contract is up after the season, departed via free agency. Obviously, they're trying to maximize their returns while they still hold the cards.
The 31-year-old Allen, who's still due $7.5 million in 2013, has 21 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble this season. He's shown enough to warrant playing on a contending team, but it's unclear if Allen wants to leave Minnesota.
If he does, Allen can help his cause with a good performance against the rival Packers on Sunday Night Football.
BEST OF MAXIM
The Minnesota Vikings are off to a 1-6 start this season and have allowed a whopping 32.1 points per game, which places them 30th in the NFL. Minnesota is also 30th in total yards allowed with an average of 401.6. The Vikings have been incapable of stopping anyone, and Sunday night’s loss to the Green […]
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports expects the Vikings to hold “exploratory talks” about possibly trading DE Jared Allen before Tuesday’s deadline.
The team has yet to field in any offers for Allen, but some GMs around the league believe the Vikings would be foolish to not make some calls around the league to gauge interest in Allen.
La Canfora believes the Broncos and Cowboys...
To this point, the one-win Minnesota Vikings have not pursued any deals for Jared Allen, according to league sources, and have not really entertained the prospect internally, but given the team's woeful performance, Allen's huge salary and his impending free agency, exploratory calls will come before the deadline.
Allen would be a perfect fit for Dallas, for instance, or...
This afternoon (or possibly morning) reports surfaced about Jared Allen not pursing free agency, and instead, being inclined to be traded before the league mandated deadline on Tuesday at 4 EST.
It has been reported that the Vikings would take nothing less than a 3rd round draft pick to let go of Jared Allen. So this begs the question, with no Wilfork and a banged up defensive line...
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports news is reporting that defensive end of the Minnesota Vikings Jared Allen is being shopped right now by the team. This is a conflict to orher reports because earlier today, several news reporters were saying that they were not trying to trade Jared Allen. Jay Glazer report’s that the Vikings […]

The Minnesota Vikings season is done. When a team is having a disappointing season, they look to trade players with the most value to other contending teams. For the Vikings, there is one guy that may be on the move by the trade deadline...
When I look at the 13 games this week the one game that sticks out like a possible upset is the Minnesota Vikings facing the Packers. Jared Allen always shines against the Pack as does Adrian Peterson. Is tomorrow the upset of the year? The Packers are doomed by injury and the Vikings have Christian […]
The Vikings are reportedly open to discussing trade options for Jared Allen, but Allen said he hasn’t been part of any conversation involving a potential trade.
Jared Allen will be a free agent after the season, but he could be leaving the Minnesota Vikings sooner than that. According to FOX NFL reporter Jay Glazer, the Vikings are open to dealing the pass-rushing star if they can get strong compensation. Glazer says the Vikings would be willing to deal Allen for “the […]
Well, here we are. After half a season of trade speculation, it comes down to these last two days for teams to make deals with one another.
Among the many players that “could” be traded are three young wide receivers; Josh Gordon, Justin Blackmon, and Hakeem Nicks. While it is not likely any of these players will be traded, another name that has popped up in rumors is All-Pro...
According to Jay Gkazer of FOX Sports, the Vikings are looking for more than a third round pick for defensive end Jared Allen if they do trade him.
Any contender wanting to trade for Allen will need to give more than a 3 as that's what they could get as compensation if he leaves via FA

I don’t think a team is going to be willing...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Chad Greenway paused in trying to explain what had just happened the previous few hours to the Minnesota Vikings defense. Chris Cook did the same. Jared Allen wiped a hand across his face seemingly trying to wipe free the memories of Sunday night's 44-31 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
"You got to be kidding me to say that we can't stop teams," Allen...
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, via his twitter account, the Seattle Seahawks are making a bid to secure the services of Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen. It would require some restructuring of Allen’s current contract but I bet Jared would be willing to talk if Seattle was serious. The Seahawks are a Super Bowl contender and Jared isn’t getting any younger. And with the Vikings...
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Minnesota Vikings are still listening to trade offers for defensive end Jared Allen.
Vikings are certainly open to fielding offers today for Jared Allen. Have had a few talks w teams but nothing substantial yet

Allen likely won’t be traded because of his high cap number.
In fact, Vikes are...
