EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Shortly after drafting two young pieces for their defense Thursday night, the Minnesota Vikings went the way of a veteran in adding more depth along the defensive line.
Minnesota agreed to terms with defensive end Lawrence Jackson, who played the last three seasons for the Detroit Lions, a source told FOXSportsNorth.com. Reports say Jackson and the Vikings agreed to a one-year deal.
Earlier in the evening, Minnesota drafted Florida defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd at No. 23 and Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes with pick No. 25.
Jackson, 27, was a 2008 first-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks. He was a starter for most of his first two seasons with Seattle but has been a reserve for Detroit since. In 69 career games, Jackson has 19.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Heading into Thursday, five of the team's top six defensive lineman are signed only through 2013. Defensive ends Jared Allen, Brian Robison and Everson Griffen and defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Fred Evans are scheduled to play next season on expiring contracts. Only starting defensive tackle Letroy Guion is signed through 2014 among the top six linemen who played last season for Minnesota.

The Vikings went big to jump back into the first round and grab their guy Cordarrelle Patterson, who is a freak athlete with raw abilities. They needed a Harvin replacement and they got a bigger version that will need to be coached up before he will make an impact. The Vikings also landed Greg Jennings this off season, so Patterson will have a veteran...
In what was probably the most surprising move of the 2013 NFL Draft so far, Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman traded his second-, third-, fourth-, and seventh-picks to the New England Patriots in exchange for the right to move back into the first round. With the 29th overall pick — his third of the [...]The post Minnesota Vikings select Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee...
The Minnesota Vikings used their third first-round pick (No. 29) on Tennessee wideout Cordarrelle Patterson.Fantasy Spin:He's a bit raw, but has the size (6-3, 216 pounds) and speed (4.42) to become a No. 1 receiver. Patterson played just one season at the FBS level, catching 46 balls for 778 yards and five touchdowns. He set a Tennessee record of 1,858 all-purpose yards. He...
When the Detroit Lions selected BYU defensive end Ezekiel Ansah with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, I wonder if they had any clue what he was going to be wearing when he walked onstage to hug commissioner Roger Goodell.
Ansah took the stage wearing lensless RealD 3D glasses that you get at a movie theater. The big question is why? Was he making fun of all the athletes...
Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders ultimately beat out Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson to win the cover of ‘Madden NFL 25′. Sanders was one of the most electrifying players to ever step on a football field. His elusiveness combined with the inept ability to rarely go down on the first tackle attempt, amounted to [...]
It is draft day here in Detroit. At the offices of DS360 we are in full on celebration mode. Titus Young day is our favorite holiday. Draft day is probably the best day to be a Detroit Lions fan, that is until the team is on the clock and Roger Goodell walks to that podium [...]
ALLEN PARK, Mich. The first gift Ziggy Ansah, the Detroit Lions first-round pick, received after arriving in town was a pair of real glasses with actual frames.
It was a friendly jab for his unusual look at Radio City Music Hall on draft night, when he wore 3D glasses with black frames and no lenses.
This is an upgrade, Ansah said of the new glasses during his introductory news...
We knew Devin Taylor was a beast. Well now, he is a Lion as the Detroit Lions selected South Carolina's Devin Taylor in the fourth-round (132nd overall) of the 2013 NFL draft.
Taylor, who is 6'7" and 266 lbs., ran a 4.72 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and should grow into a nice defensive end for the Lions.
Here is his stats broken down:
