Vikings Winfield likely to miss rest of season

GREEN BAY, Wis. Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield's return from a neck injury didn't last long Monday night. Winfield, playing in his first game since Oct. 2, broke his collarbone during Minnesota's 45-7 loss to Green Bay and likely will miss the rest of the season. "I think he fractured his clavicle," Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said following Monday's game. "We'll have to see what happens with him. I don't think we'll get him back. I'll learn more (Tuesday), but I don't see him being able to come back from that." The return of Winfield, 34 and a Pro Bowl selection each of the past three seasons, was being counted on to help the Vikings improve their No. 30 ranking in pass defense, but it had little effect against the Packers. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of 30 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns in a game that was all but over early in the third quarter. Winfield, who is in his eighth season with the Vikings and 13th overall, had five tackles and a sack before leaving the game in the second half. Minnesota is now again without its top two cornerbacks. Chris Cook is being held out of team activities indefinitely after being charged with felony domestic assault by strangulation.
