4 days down A couple days ago I noted that Justin Veltung was having trouble fighting off the physicality of Jeremy Lane. The team announced that Justin was released by the Seahawks today and they replaced him with rookie running back Ray Holley. Wide receiver Justin Veltung has been released from the club & running back Ray Holley has been added to the 90-man roster. — Seattle Seahawks (@Seahawks) July 28, 2013   Quarterback Brady Quinn was able to escape pressure by rolling out to his right and was able to hit Arceto Clark who had broken off his route to find an opening in the defense. It was a very good play by both players. Running back Sunday I had a bit of a scare when I saw Marshawn Lynch grab his groin after a big run then walk gingerly off the field. Luckily, a couple minutes later he was back on the field taking reps. If there had been any chance there was an injury there is no way they would have continued to allow him to practice. On a side note; Marshawn has looked as strong as ever in camp thus far. I found it interesting on Saturday when the Seahawks were running a short yardage offense with Spencer Ware lined up at running behind a fullback. Another rookie running back, Christine Michael, has really impressed me with his speed and quickness. Robert Turbin has been missing time due to injury and I have to think Robert is losing ground to Christine in the battle to back up Marshawn Lynch. Christine Michael trying to get around the corner. (Photo: oregonlive.com) Wide Receiver Earlier I mention the play by Arceto Clark so I won’t go back into it. What I will go into is the great diving catch by Chris Harper. The pass was thrown toward the sideline but Chris was able to dive and catch it on his way to the ground while keeping both feet in bounds. The catch set the offense up at the one yard line. Offensive Line Rookie Jared Smith was playing center with the third unit today when he launched a shotgun snap inside the red zone to Brady Quinn’s right. Quinn was able to recover the ball but had no choice but to throw it out of the back of the end zone, wasting an offense play in the red zone. Defensive Line Brandon Mebane continues to be a thorn in the side of his opponents running game as he knifed through the line and made a tackle for a loss. The a drill pitted 1st unit offense versus first unit defense. Defensive backs Ron Parker had excellent coverage in the end zone and was able to bat down a would be touchdown pass. Tomorrow the players will get the day off but they will be back at it Tuesday. Go Seahawks! CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE SEAHAWKS BLOG PAGE IN OUR CLUBHOUSE SECTION AT NWSB!
