Von Miller and Aldon Smith have not only affected their respective team’s ability to compete for a championship with their immature actions in the past two months, but they also may have slowed down the timeline for when they can cash in on a big money extension.
In the wake of Miller being suspended six games for tampering with his drug test, and Smith dealing with alcohol issues, Pro Football Talk is reporting that both players actions have made their teams more reluctant to make a huge financial investment in them after only three seasons.
In contract slang, both Miller and Smith may have to wait for that $75 million contract that J.J. Watt, A.J. Green, and Cam Newton will probably command.
Both players are one major slip up away from facing year-long bans in the NFL.
Reports say the 49ers will now focus on locking Colin Kaepernick up long-term and seeing how Aldon Smith progresses before talking money with him.
The Broncos on the other hand may wait even longer to reward Miller ...

49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh claims wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin will get on the field more after catching two passes for 19 yards during Thursday’s win over the Rams.
“There’ll be more action for him,” Harbaugh said via ProFootballTalk.com.
Harbaugh likes Baldwin’s competitiveness.
“He’s got a competitive heart,” Harbaugh said.
The 9ers certainly need another...
In 2004, Michael Vick redefined the quarterback position with his ability to get away from the defenders and throw the ball on a rope. Champ Bailey remembers that game like it was yesterday. “At that time, no question, there wasn’t anybody really like him,” Bailey said. “That’s how we looked at it that week. We […]
49ers offensive lineman Joe Staley suffered what appeared to be a leg injury at the end of tonight’s game against the Rams.
Staley refused to take a cart ride and instead walked to the locker room.
Joe Staley didn't want the cart. He walked into locker room with assistance. Jim Harbaugh looked as if he wanted to go with him.

You can’t call the San Francisco 49ers disloyal.
On the heels of Aldon Smith’s embarrassing DUI arrest, and subsequent trip to rehab earlier this week, Jason La Canfora is reporting that the 49ers will still pay Smith his weekly game check.
The 49ers, who could have withheld pay from Aldon Smith while in rehab on the Non-Football Injury list, are paying him his normal salary...
Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno celebrated a touchdown against Philadelphia with a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors.
The first half of Thursday night’s 49ers-Rams game concluded with one of the most seldom seen plays in football — a free kick.
The Niners fair caught a St. Louis punt at their own 39-yard line with enough time left in the second quarter to run one play. Instead of taking a knee or trying for a Hail Mary into the end zone, coach Jim Harbaugh elected to evoke the obscure rule...
Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes, Frank Gore had his first 100-yard game of the season and the San Francisco 49ers' defense stepped up without some of their stars in a 35-11 rout over the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night.
Anquan Boldin had five catches for 90 yards and a touchdown, and Gore had 153 yards on 20 carries and a 34-yard score for San Francisco (2-2), which...
There’s a little known rule in the NFL in which a team is allowed to attempt a free kick after calling for a fair catch after a punt or a kickoff. Jim Harbaugh and the San Francisoc 49ers took advantage of said rule Thursday night against the Rams, attempting a 71 yard field goal to wind down the first half. Phil Dawson missed wide left as the Rams return man made the catch...
According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, 49ers receiver Mario Manningham (knee) is on track to return to practice after Week 6.Fantasy Spin:Manningham isn't likely to be a reliable fantasy option but at least he'll be able to get open consistently, which should help Colin Kaepernick and the rest of San Francisco's passing offense.
The San Francisco 49ers were very much in need of a strong showing when they faced the St. Louis Rams in a prime time game on Thursday night. They were playing without two of their best defenders. Aldon Smith and Patrick Willis were both out of the game. Despite that, the 49ers got a 35 – 11 win in St. Louis. Navorro Bowman took it upon himself to rise to the occasion. He played...

The Broncos are 10-point favorites in this one mostly because the pundits look at Philly's poorly-rated pass defense and they expect Peyton Manning to have possession of the ball for at least 12 series. That's a...
Was the Randy Moss deal in 2007 the biggest steal in NFL history? If you ask Randy, or Tom Brady, the answer has to be a resounding yes! 23 touchdown catches make a fantastic case. Some free agent signings pay off big-time, while others only seem to benefit the bank account of the player striking gold in a new city. But one thing is sure- every year will see a slew of players cut...
