A Glam Slam:
As part of the “geek-chic” fashion phenomenon, NBA players have made thick-rimmed glasses the league’s most popular off-court accessory. In the NFL, it is Von Miller who is associated with his signature specs. Unlike the sports pros who wear lense-less frames solely as a style statement, Miller’s glasses serve a dual purpose: fashion and function. The Denver Broncos linebacker recently caught up with Esquire magazine at Silver Lining Opticians, as he shopped for new specs. The SoHo, NYC based boutique houses unique, vintage designs and is the shop of choice for Miller.
He was first introduced to the store by stylist, Rachel Johnson, while searching for frames for the NFL Draft. Miller is known to be fashion-savvy but it’s his collection of glasses that is most impressive. The eyewear enthusiast has optical options for just about every occasion. During his visit to Silving Lining Opticians with Esquire, Miller spoke his eyewear collection, his new gig with AXE skin care and personal style. Below are a few excerpts and for the full piece, read on here.

VM: Probably like 32. But I have to come in to see Jordan [co-owner of Silver Lining] to restock on some frames every quarter or so because I have a problem falling asleep in them and breaking them.
ESQ: And I love that you’re naming them as you try them on, kinda setting the stage for how and where you’ll wear them.
VM: Yea, like this pair I’m calling “the grandpa” because, well, it looks like something a grandpa would wear. Another I named “suit and tie” because they’re dress up frames.
ESQ: Tell me more about your personal style. Any favorite designers?
VM: My style is unique. I mean I would say that I have always been into fashion, even in college, but never had access to it like I do now. But it’s kinda like with the frames, I have jumped into it head first ever since being exposed to it. I love shoes, obviously Adidas — which I’m wearing now. But also designers like Balenciaga, Rick Owens, Givenchy, Saint Laurent …
