Former Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips made a few somewhat surprising comments when he recently told reporters he should be considered for any available head coaching position.
With several job openings coming available around the league, the Houston Texans defensive coordinator, who was fired as the Cowboys head coach in the middle of last season, said his resume is "better than most."
"I don't like to toot my own horn," Phillips said, according to NFL.com. "I've got a good record. I think I should be considered. I guess people may have taken it the wrong way that I ought to be a head coach. I don't believe that. I think I should be considered. If you look at my record, and you can look at all the people they're talking about now, and my record is better than most everyone they're talking about, as a head coach."
And while finishing 1-7 during his final season in Dallas didn't do much to help his head coaching reputation, Phillips deserves plenty of credit for turning the Texan...
