Former NFL defensive tackle and current NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp has been critical of Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh over the past couple of years. After another NFL season, Sapp still isn’t impressed with Suh. “Players today, when somebody don’t agree with how they play or with what they’re doing, it’s hate and it has to be personal,” said Sapp, a former all-pro defensive tackle now an analyst for NFL Network, on Tuesday. “The last time I checked, I played the three-technique defensive tackle position pretty well. And now I’m an analyst. “I don’t think I ever said anything about his (auto) accident. I didn’t say anything about him stepping on a man two Thanksgivings in a row. I am just looking at his technique and seeing the same things. Until he evolves, I’m going to keep saying the same things.” In the past Suh challenged Sapp to stop being a fan and actually help him. “He called me a fan, I didn’t read that as he was reaching out,” Sapp said. “He said teach m

Lions previous draft grade gets downgraded

Looking back, the Detroit Lions haven’t received much back from the seven selections made in the 2012 NFL Draft. The draft was highlighted by first round selection, offensive tackle Riley Reiff and second round selection, wide receiver Ryan Broyles. As if the Lions needed someone telling them this, ESPN’s “draft expert” reassessed the Lions draft and downgraded the performance...

Ford Field to have new turf installed

Some Detroit Lions fans wanted to blow up the whole team following a 4-12 season, starting with the firing of the coach and general manager. Will you settle for a new playing surface? The Lions announced Tuesday they are replacing the original FieldTurf that was installed at Ford Field when it opened in 2002 with an updated version for the 2013 season. Over the past 11 seasons...

Offseason Needs: Detroit Lions

1. Defensive End If the Detroit Lions re-sign Cliff Avril, this becomes slightly less of a need. But regardless of Avril’s future with the team, they need to find a replacement for veteran Kyle Vanden Bosch who is well past his prime and was a liability this past season. Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore and Dion Jordan should all be near the top of the Lions draft board. 2. Cornerback...

The 10 Worst Running Backs In The NFL Today

10. Mikel Leshoure, Detroit LionsThe Lions brought him in looking for a back that could produce big gains and hit the 1,000-yard mark.Unfortunately for the Lions and their fans, he was just another average back that couldn’t bring enough relief to the passing game. He tends to carry his body high, and his cutting ability isn’t the best in the league. The Lions hoped for a savior...

Warren Sapp criticizes Ndamukong Suh… again.

Warren Sapp is continuing to be one of the harshest critics of notorious kick-thrower Ndamukong Suh of the Lions. This time, it isn’t about his growing reputation as a dirty player (which by the way, Suh still denies). Instead, he’s criticizing his leadership skills. Sapp voiced his opinion on Suh on NFL Network on Tuesday. Although he swears that the criticism isn’t personal...

Warren Sapp Criticizes Lions DT Ndamukong Suh: 'He's A Blind Dog In A Meat House'

Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh still has done nothing to impress Warren Sapp, a former standout defensive lineman with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sapp unleashed his routine criticism of Suh's lack of development when asked about the third-year pro during the NFL Network's brunch during Super Bowl Media Day. As usual, Sapp's main beef with Suh is his lack of growth...

Mayhew to stick with same draft strategy for Lions

Despite his team's glaring needs on defense, Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew has stubbornly stuck to the "Best Player Available" mentality when it comes to making selections in the NFL Draft. At least that's the way he explained decisions such as taking offensive players -- tackle Riley Reiff and receiver Ryan Broyles -- with the team's first two...

Lions Offseason More Interesting with Xanders

The hire of Brian Xanders to the Detroit Lions front office just made the team's offseason more interesting.

Ford Field To Upgrade Artificial Playing Surface For 2013 Season

The Detroit Lions' home field is about to get an upgrade. The team will replace its current artificial playing surface at Ford Field with FieldTurf's latest product, FieldTurf Classic HD. The new surface replaces the original FieldTurf field installed when the stadium opened in 2002. FieldTurf Classic HD is designed to be softer and more durable. "Over the past...

What’s Going On With The Detroit Lions?

In 2011, the Detroit Lions made the playoffs for the first time since Barry Sanders was still with the team. Fans were excited and they were a confident team. Matthew Stafford finally stayed healthy and had a great season, throwing for over 5,000 yards. Calvin Johnson continued his dominance and Ndamukong Suh was becoming a star. Coach Jim Schwartz seemed liked a great find. Then...

NFL Pro Bowl Fail: League puts wrong Lions logo on Pro Bowl jerseys

For a League that hands out $10,500 dollar fines for wearing your socks too low in a game, you’d think they’d get their own uniform rules right… Wrong. During Sunday’s Pro Bowl in Honolulu, the NFL had Lions Pro Bowlers Ndamukong Suh and Don Muhlbach were sporting the NFC jerseys with Lions logo on the upper right chest. The only problem was it was the logo used prior to...
