Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Warren Sapp has made a living off the field by making some outrageous statements, and Thursday was no different. Appearing on NFL Total Access on the NFL Network, Sapp stated that he believes that the Cleveland Browns are the next team in line to win their first ever Super Bowl title. While that prediction might make some in Cleveland very happy, I find it to be a bit too ambitious based on his reasoning. Sapp said the Browns are putting the pieces together to make a Super Bowl push. “They have a quarterback now, they have a running back- in (Trent) Richardson and they have (Brandon) Weeden–this is what you need to jump start your franchise. There’s no more fumbling on the one-yard line, there’s no more ‘Drive’ for you to cry over. It’s the Cleveland Browns, they’ll be next.” There is no doubt that Richardson will jump start the Browns running game, ranking 28th in 2011, but to call Weeden the franchise quarterback that the Browns need is a bit of a...

Undrafted Josh Cooper likely to make Browns

No undrafted free agent has gotten more buzz so far than Josh Cooper, who is a wide receiver, currently of the Cleveland Browns. This is because the Browns have been praising him and his ability to get open underneath endlessly this offseason. Cooper is expected to not only make the Browns, but to compete for a slot receiver job with Jordan Norwood, Travis Benjamin, and Josh Cribbs...

Buccaneers’ Mike Williams could lose starting job to Preston Parker

Mike Williams had an incredibly impressive rookie year in 2010, as a mere 4th round rookie, catching 65 passes for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns, but struggled last year, catching 65 passes for 771 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was out of shape for most of, if not all of the season, not an uncommon thing for a Buccaneer last year as Head Coach Raheem Morris completely lost the locker...

Warren Sapp thinks the Cleveland Browns are poised for Super Bowl run

The thing about the NFL is that if the stars are aligned properly a team can come out of nowhere to get to the Super Bowl. But, I will explain why Warren Sapp is way off base as usual after you hear what he has to say about the Cleveland Browns. Sapp said the Browns are putting the pieces together to make a Super Bowl push. “They have a quarterback now, they have a running...

Holmgren did say that Weeden needs “to show us”...

LeGarrette Blount retains starting job for Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for now

One of the knocks on third-year running back LeGarrette Blount has been that he is not an every down back. In his short NFL career, Blount has struggled in pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have wrapped up their three day mini-camp with rookie head coach Greg Schiano telling reporters, he thinks Blount’s hands are just fine. ...

Seneca Wallace could request trade from Browns

Seneca Wallace is currently the Browns’ 3rd string quarterback and when asked about staying the 3rd string quarterback, Seneca Wallace said today, in an interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer, that he might request a trade if that continues to be the case. Wallace will almost definitely be the Browns’ #3 quarterback unless the Browns lower their asking price on Colt McCoy...

LeGarrette Blount is Buccaneers’ 1st team tailback

The Buccaneers traded back up into the end of the 1st round to grab Doug Martin and many assumed that he would be the lead back for the Buccaneers this season. However, LeGarrette Blount, who has been the lead back for the last two seasons, is still getting most of the 1st team reps in minicamp. The Buccaneers may just be making Martin earn his starting job, but both Mark Barron...

Browns president Mike Holmgren says there are no plans ''right now'' to move either quarterback Colt McCoy or Seneca Wallace before training camp. One of the two QBs will be rookie Brandon Weeden's backup. Weeden is expected to start this season after the Browns drafted the 28-year-old in the first round. Earlier this week, Wallace said he didn't think all...

TAMPA, Fla. Greg Schiano ended his first mandatory minicamp as head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs on Thursday morning with a little surprise and it was as much a shock to offensive tackle Donald Penn as anyone. Browns won’t ask much for Colt McCoy

With Brandon Weeden impressing in offseason practices, speculation has picked up once again about the Browns possibly trading Colt McCoy. The Browns tried to move McCoy on draft day, after using a 1st round pick on Brandon Weeden, but could not find a suitor. According to ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi, the Browns are not only interested in moving McCoy, but won’t ask much in return...
