The regular refs are back, but the scars of Monday night's debacle will linger. Like most NFL fans, I've been consumed by the aftermath of the Packers stunning loss on Monday night -- lapping up all the news and analysis I can.  It occurred to me that what the media tried to characterize as a "controversial call" was anything but.  There was no controversy over that call.  Everyone knows it was a colossal screw up. I have never, ever, in my 42 years of watching sports, heard such universal, unanimous, un-wavering agreement by everyone that watched a game that a call was botched.  I have yet to hear a single person defend it.  Hell, I haven't heard a single person even explain it.  The refs on the field Monday night certainly couldn't explain it.  The Seahawks fans can't explain it (every Seattle fan I heard call in to NFL Radio admitted it was a travesty).  Most Seahawks players like Marshawn Lynch have agreed that Seattle didn't win that game...

Tate subjected to 'nasty stuff' online

Seahawks receiver Golden Tate says he was on the receiving end of some vitriolic commentary on social media due to his role in the controversial play on Monday night.

Golden Tate Admits To Pushing CB Shields, Says He Isn’t A…

Golden Tate Admits To Pushing CB Shields, Says He Isn’t A Cheater - Seahawks WR Golden Tate is admitting the obvious. That he pushed Packers CB Sam Shields on the infamous play in which Tate was awarded a game-winning touchdown pass that most fans thought should have been an interception. But Tate adds that he wasn’t setting out to break the rules, he was just setting out to...

SteelDad Breaks Down the Inaccurate Reception

First and foremost, I am Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan. That also makes me a football fan. I have played and watched and coached a lot of football in my many years on this rock so while that doesn’t necessarily make me an expert, I do feel a certain amount of expertise. I feel, therefore, it’s my duty to break down this play in the only way I can and that means as sarcastically...

Seahawks controversial win, slight revenge for the city

Golden Tate, Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks stole one from the Green Bay Packers. There is no disputing that, anyway you try to cut it. Seattle fans are not ignorant. They understand their team won when it shouldn’t have. But they don’t care. A win is a win. And for a city that has been on the receiving end of controversy so many times in the past decade it...

Packers-Seahawks Final Thought: The Fallout of ‘The Seattle Screwjob’

What has the NFL come to? That’s the question a good majority of us who watched Monday night’s football game between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks are thinking today. As you may have heard, the recent Monday Night Football game ended dubiously with an officiating mistake that determined the outcome. (Image via: FanIQ) ‘The Seattle Screwjob’ For those of you...

Replacement ref Easley stands by his MNF call

Former replacement referee Lance Easley, who made the controversial touchdown call in Monday night's game between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers, stands by his ruling, according to a TMZ report. "It was the correct call," he told the web site. "I didn't do anything wrong." Easley feels the a case of simultaneous possession, meaning the...

NEW YORK (AP) -- So long, replacement refs. The NFL's regular crews will be back on the field starting Thursday night. After two days of marathon negotiations -- and mounting frustration among coaches, players and fans -- the NFL and the referees' union announced at midnight Thursday that a tentative agreement had been reached to end a lockout that began in June. Commissioner...

Deal done: NFL refs to return Thursday

Mike McCarthy And His Packers: A Class Act

We have seen the play over a hundred times this week. Russel Wilson of the Seahawks chucked a Hail Mary pass into the end zone that appeared to be intercepted by the Packers M.D. Jennings but was ruled a Golden Tate touchdown after Tate got an arm around Jennings, yet never showing full possession of the ball like Jennings did.  This was an epic failure on the part of the replacement...

NFL Referees Clinch Home Field Advantage

Extinguish the angry-mob stovetop flames and forget for a microwavable second that Golden Tate pushed off of Sam "NFL" Shields and stole the sport's credible branding away from the Green Bay Packers.Mute the debate of whether the blame lies with the inopportune substitutes (even though it's still their job) or all parties involved in the referee lockout (Roger Goodell...

The best replacements from sports and entertainment

If you are reading this then there is a 100% chance that you know about the BS call the replacement refs made in the Green Bay Packers vs Seattle Seahawks Monday Night Football game. Every part of the play from the non-pass interference call to the interception that somehow turned into a Golden Tate touchdown was complete garbage (though I had the Seahawks +3.5 so I can live with...
