60 Max Power O:
Robert Griffin III
Training camp starts Thursday for the Washington Redskins and I expect to see many of you out there. It will be the first time we've seen the full team since their season finale, on the first of January. As a training camp preview, we'll go over some of the players and battles you'll want to watch for.
Robert Griffin III – Just watching how they plan to use him; bootlegs, deep balls…the OPTION! Many will be looking on to how RGIII works from under center, but I want to see how well he throws intermediately deep passes, especially over the middle. The offense is still Shanahan based and while they will play to RGIII’s strengths, it’s a much different offense that he ran at Baylor.
Jarvis Jenkins battling health and Adam Carriker for the starting role, opposite Stephen Bowen. Jenkins was a bully on the field, this time last year. He’ll have to do that again this season, but don’t expect Carriker to flop over and hand it to him.
The kicker battle! How exciting! This could be one of the tightest competitions of the offseason. Last year, the Skins challenged Graham Gano with Shane Graham. This year, they brought in Neil Rakers to again, push Gano to the next level.
While the kick returner won’t be decided till after the preseason, Mike Shanahan has come out and said that whoever hold down that position will also have to contribute at wide receiver as well. That means Brandon Banks, Terrence Austin and Aldrick Robinson will have to earn a roster spot as the 6th wide receiver. Who’s the most consistent, explosive and productive? These little things, AS WIDE RECEIVERS, will go a long way in deciding who is the Redskins’ returner will be.
Both second and third receiver positions are also up for grabs. There’s a three way battle for the starting role, opposite Pierre Garcon, between Santana Moss, Leonard Hankerson and Josh Morgan. Anthony Armstrong is also looking to crack the top three by taking advantage of his speed and jump-ball ability. This will be a very tough competition to decipher from the sideline, but it’s still worth watching.
Other battles: Both safety positions are waiting for someone to take the lead. Other than keeping track of who gets the most reps, it again, will be tough to know whose producing. The competition between Tim Hightower and Roy Helu in training camp won’t matter much either. Even RGIII has Tim Hightower as the starter, if healthy.

BEST OF MAXIM
I’m not keen on the lettering, but the gorilla portion of the tattoo is fantastic.
Redskins OT Trent Williams is a big, big man, and whether you know it or not, he’s been given the nickname”Silverback” (by himself actually) in deference to his size. He so thoroughly enjoys his animalistic moniker that he went and had this tattoo of a Silverback gorilla inked on his back...
With training camp opening up, the Washington Redskins are looking for veteran Tim Hightower to be the starter coming out of the back field even though he’s coming off ACL surgery.
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, the Redskins are concerned about Roy Helu’s durability. Head coach Mike Shanahan needs him to prove that he can be given a heavier load without getting...
Today is the day Redskins' fans. Skins' veterans report to training camp today. Sure they're only there to have physicals done but they're there and tomorrow the fun begins.
It's been a long, but exciting off-season and Coach Mike Shannahan has some new toys to play with on the offensive side of the ball. The most notable being rookie quarterback Robert Griffin...
Tattoos and athletes go hand in hand. Multiple tatts are like an unofficial part of jocks uniforms – unless you’re Cam Newton playing for the Panthers but I digress. Redskins OT Trent Williams nicknamed himself “Silverback” yeah, as in the gorilla and to solidify it, Williams went out a had $3,000 worth of ink added [...]
The Redskins waived Chase Minnifield on Tuesday, but they'll try to bring him back by adding him to their injured reserve list if he goes unclaimed. Minnifield had knee surgery prior to the draft and suffered a setback that required another procedure recently. The injury will sideline him for the entire 2012 season. Minnifield was in contention for a roster spot and had been...
It looks like Adidas is hitting the airwaves hard with their new potential superstar Robert Griffin III. Not sure what to make of this commercial as I think it is a little creepy but I understood the concept. With Cam Newton and now Robert Griffin III, it seems rookie and sophomore players are gaining more and more commercial attention in the NFL.
I actually agree with New York Giants...
Robert Griffin III is one of the best NFL Draft prospects in recent memory. I wasn’t the only one that predicted his NFL career would ultimately be better than Andrew Luck’s. However, clearly, Griffin needs work on his ability at press conferences. Here are a few of the worst excerpts. “There’s really no true [...]
If we learned anything from this Adidas commercial starring Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin the 3rd, it's this singular fact.
Once RG3 gets into your head, he will never leave and might cause you to believe that he is everywhere:
New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora isn’t ready to praise Redskins rookie quarterback Robert griffin III since he still has a lot to prove in the NFL.
“Who is this RG3 guy you guys keep talking about?’’ Umenyiora said. “You talking about Bob Griffin? You guys are giving him a cool nickname already and everything. When he does anything in the NFL...
When the Patriots brought in veteran defensive end Andre Carter last August, they didn’t know what to expect from a guy who was cut by the Washington Redskins and had recorded three seasons with at least 10 or more. All he did in 2011 was become a force for the 31st ranked defense recording 52 [...]
