Mike Leach has a new job. The former coach at Texas Tech who lost his job in controversial fashion, has been hired as the next coach of the Washington State Cougars. Leach will reportedly receive a lucrative five-year contract. Leach coached at Texas Tech from 2000 until he was fired in 2009. His record while at Texas Tech was 84-43. His best team was in 2008 when Texas Tech finished 11-2. As you remember, Leach was fired by Texas Tech after an incident involving Adam James, the son of ESPN analyst Craig James. After getting fired, Leach filed a wrongful termination lawsuit. Over the last few years, Leach has been rumored to be in the hunt for various jobs including head coaching jobs at Miami, Maryland, Minnesota, Kansas and even Penn State. Now that he’s with Washington State, it’ll be interesting to see whether Leach can continue his successful coaching career. Mike Leach, Washington State (Image: Post from: EveryJoe

The Pirate Ship Has Landed: Mike Leach Brings Relevancy To Washington State

Since starting this website over three years ago, I have written hundreds of thousands in this very space on college football. I’ve written about two Urban Meyer retirements and the subsequent un-retirements that followed. I’ve written about the Big Ten expanding to 12 teams, the Big XII shrinking to 10, and the Big East no longer being “big” or strictly located in the East...

FERHAT GUEVEN, a Texas Tech grad and successful real estate entrepenuer, loves football and the statistical, analytical side of the game. So much so that he recently teamed with Mike Leach to write a book aimed at fans who "seek a deeper understanding of the game." Based on the excerpt the New York Times college sports blog published this week, it's a helluva a read.

Wazzu ups the ante for ASU

The Pac-12 dubbed itself the conference of quarterbacks in 2011. Next season, it might be the conference of coaches. Gill's gone, so no more "nice guys" for KU?

The swift and ruthless execution of KU coach Turner Gill makes two things frighteningly clear. It also tosses out a question that may involve the ethical priorities of the entire university. Let's start with the facts this firing made so incredibly obvious: First, Gill was a "dead coach walking" for at least a month. Maybe, just maybe, wins over Iowa State, Baylor...

The Latest Completely Ridiculous Rumor About the Ole Miss Coaching Search

With absolutely no concrete evidence to the contrary, the Ole Miss message boards have moved on from the delusions of Tony Dungy and the pipe dreams of Mike Leach, and directed their unhealthy slash fiction to West Virginia head coach and proprietor of the always epic balding mullet, Dana Holgerson. This seems like an complete and total impossiblity given that Holgo is one year into...

With Wulff gone, Leach adds up 6 ways for WSU

For six very good reasons, the fit between Ol’ Wazzu and Captain Air Raid...
