The Fantasy Kickoff:
Mike Leach has a new job. The former coach at Texas Tech who lost his job in controversial fashion, has been hired as the next coach of the Washington State Cougars. Leach will reportedly receive a lucrative five-year contract.
Leach coached at Texas Tech from 2000 until he was fired in 2009. His record while at Texas Tech was 84-43. His best team was in 2008 when Texas Tech finished 11-2. As you remember, Leach was fired by Texas Tech after an incident involving Adam James, the son of ESPN analyst Craig James. After getting fired, Leach filed a wrongful termination lawsuit.
Over the last few years, Leach has been rumored to be in the hunt for various jobs including head coaching jobs at Miami, Maryland, Minnesota, Kansas and even Penn State. Now that he’s with Washington State, it’ll be interesting to see whether Leach can continue his successful coaching career.

So much so that he recently teamed with Mike Leach to write a book aimed at fans who "seek a deeper understanding of the game." Happy Thursday Coug Fans!
And indeed, a happy 24 hours it has been. Because as Texas Tech is about to find out the hard way, one man's treasure is another man's plunder. Yesterday, Bill Moos made probably the biggest splash in the history of Cougar athletics by agreeing to terms with one of the most quirky, colorful, and brilliant minds in all of sports: Mike Leach...

The swift and ruthless execution of KU coach Turner Gill makes two things frighteningly clear.
It also tosses out a question that may involve the ethical priorities of the entire university.
Let's start with the facts this firing made so incredibly obvious:
First, Gill was a "dead coach walking" for at least a month.
Maybe, just maybe, wins over Iowa State, Baylor...
With absolutely no concrete evidence to the contrary, the Ole Miss message boards have moved on from the delusions of Tony Dungy and the pipe dreams of Mike Leach, and directed their unhealthy slash fiction to West Virginia head coach and proprietor of the always epic balding mullet, Dana Holgerson.
This seems like an complete and total impossiblity given that Holgo is one year into...
FORMER WASHINGTON State football coach Mike Price said he was sorry to see one of his former players fired as coach of the Cougars, but Price said the hiring of Mike Leach as Paul Wulff’s replacement is the “perfect marriage” of a coach and school.
THE WINNINGEST coach in Texas Tech history could hardly buy an interview with a BCS-conference school a year ago. Now Mike Leach is rumored to be at or near the top of every wish list from Topeka to Westwood. With Paul Wulff being let go today, Washington State will rocket up that list of alleged pursuers. For six very good reasons, the fit between Ol’ Wazzu and Captain Air Raid...
