Fabian Washington was deactivated prior to the Ravens’ 17-10 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because, in part, the defense wanted to fortify its depth along the defensive line. Another factor in Washington enduring his first healthy scratch in three years was his value in special teams, an area that is not considered one of the cornerback’s strengths. But special teams coordinator and assistant head coach Jerry Rosburg said Washington has recently been taking a more active role in special teams practice. “Well, Fabian’s been working,” Rosburg said Thursday. “He played full safety, and the last time he was up [against the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 21], he played hold-up corner on punt return.
