The Washington Commanders defense has struggled this season, and linebacker Cody Barton has been among those who have had a rough year individually.

However, Barton had a high in the third quarter against the New York Jets, intercepting quarterback Trevor Siemian.

The Commanders are allowing 384.5 yards per game, which is the most in the NFL and have surrendered 30.2 points per game, also tops in the league.

And it appears from Ron Rivera that Barton and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio are still working on their communication with one another.

“You get the huddle call and you make the call," Rivera said earlier in the season about Barton calling plays. "Then they pass it along if it's a hurry up offense. Some of it will be just word of mouth, others they may have to make some hand signals. It just depends on what the offense is doing and how much time we have in the huddle. Some of the things that we do are matchup based."

Barton and the Commanders trail 27-7 against the Jets midway through the third quarter.
