Watch: Colts rookie QB rushes for two TDs in first quarter against Texans

Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson showed off his wheels against the Texans.

The fourth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft rushed for two touchdowns — a 15-yarder and an 18-yarder — in the first quarter in less than six minutes, giving Indianapolis an early 14-7 lead.

Richardson was the most raw QB prospect in this year's class. He only started 13 games in three seasons at Florida, completing 54.7 percent of his passes. Yet he holds significant upside as he's an excellent runner, possesses a strong arm and prototypical size (6-foot-4, 244 pounds).

Additionally, he's in a good situation with a young offensive-minded coach adept at developing QBs. Colts HC Shane Steichen served as Eagles offensive coordinator from 2021 to 2022, helping Philadelphia QB Jalen Hurts become an MVP candidate.

Richardson's development is absolutely critical for the Colts. Indianapolis has been looking for the answer at quarterback ever since franchise QB Andrew Luck retired in 2019, rotating through seven QBs in the years since. The rookie may end the dysfunction at the sport's most important position and become the face of the franchise.
