Down and Distance:
The end of the Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts match-up Sunday was a memorable one. Down by twelve with less than seven minutes left, it looked as if the Lions had the victory sealed up and all they needed to do was sit on the ball.
Things didn’t go as planned however, as the Colts persevered and came through with a remarkable comeback, even with rookie QB Andrew Luck throwing an interception. Following the pick, Luck hooked up with Lavon Brazill down the seam for a 47 yard score, closing the gap.
On the next possession with a minute left, Luck was poised as he led the Colts down the field. As they sat at the 14 yard line, three tries went by and several seconds off the clock before it came down to a do-or-die play for the young Indy squad.
On the last play, Luck took the snap out of shotgun and scanned the field before finding Donnie Avery in the flat, all alone. Luck put the ball where it needed to be and ran out as a blocker as Avery found his way to the endzone for the play that put the Colts up 35-33 in Motown.
