Few first round picks have had the journey that Danny Watkins has had since arriving in Philadelphia.

Anointed the starter since he was drafted, Watkins has gone from starter, to backup, to inactive, to active, then back to inactive.

But that long roller coaster ride has finally gotten him back where he originally began, and that's the starting lineup.

Andy Reid said today that Watkins would be starting at the right guard position this Sunday in Buffalo, in place of Kyle DeVan. DeVan has started each game since arriving in Philadelphia a few days before the teams first game.

"I think part of it was the adjustment" said Reid on why Watkins has struggled so far. "He moved from college to the NFL, from tackle to guard, and from left to right. That's a lot to handle."

Watkins is coming into a situation where he will be looked at to help fix an offensive line that struggled last week after starting the season off better then some expected. The San Francisco 49ers defense was in Michael Vick's face for most of the second half last week, and that was a big part of the reason the Eagles were not able to put the game away. With Watkins in the lineup, the Eagles are hoping that he can help plug up some of those holes that defenders were getting through.

"He's a very physical player. He's a big body, and he's not an idiot," said Todd Herremans on Watkins. "He was given a lot to digest, right away. Taking all that he was given, slowing it down for the last four weeks, I think helped him digest that, and now he's going to be able to come out and produce better."

Watkins was not available to the media, which is surprising after he stood in and took the heat when he was benched in Week 1.

But now Watkins will take another kind of heat- the heat of the Buffalo Bills defensive line, presumably with their goal on targeting the rookie starter.
