WATN: Freddie “FredEx” Mitchell
Did you ever wonder what happens to some of the Philadelphia Eagles when they retire from the game of football? I am always fascinated on some of the paths that these former athletes take once their playing careers have ended. As we move forward, please let me know what players you would like to hear about.
Freddie Mitchell was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida, where he was a four sport athlete in cross country, basketball, baseball and of course football. After being recruited by a plethora of Division one schools, he finally chose to attend The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In his college career, he had accumulated 110 receptions for 1,955 yards and 9 touchdowns for the UCLA Bruins. Now it was time for Mitchell to take his talents to the professional stage.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Freddie in the first round of the 2001 draft with the 25th overall pick. The man who dubbed himself “FredEx,” played four seasons for our E...

Things got a little heated during Philadelphia Eagles practice on Thursday when wide receiver Riley Cooper mixed it up with cornerback Cary Williams. Cooper, of course, had himself a real rough preseason and training camp after footage emerged of him using a racial slur at a Kenny Chesney concert (a story tastefully and subtly chronicled […]The post Footage surfaces of Riley Cooper...
For the Washington Redskins, the distraction of Robert Griffin’s health is no longer a distraction. This week head coach Mike Shanahan said unless a “crazy setback” were to happen, the reining offensive rookie of the year is ready to go. He better be, because their Monday night opener against the Philadelphia Eagles is big. Due to the Redskins success last season, their schedule...
Earlier we told you about that Riley Cooper and Cary Williams got into a scuffle on Thursday. And there’s video of the scuffle.
A few things the video shows:
Cary Williams was MAD.
Riley Cooper seemed to stop mid fight as if he wanted no parts of a fight with Williams
Williams clearly wanted all parts of Cooper.
Maybe there’s more to this than just a normal practice fight...
This was bound to happen, and now hopefully it will pull the Eagles together.
Jeff McLane is reporting that Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper and Cary Williams got into a fight at practice this morning.
No word on what started the fight, but we can be certain that the trolls will blame it on Cooper’s use of the N word last month.
Here are some additional details and the video...
Cary Williams for lack of a better phrase is a sh*t starter.
I don’t know if that will be good or bad for the Eagles in the long run, but in the short term, I don’t think he is having a positive effect on the team.
He has gotten into a few scuffles this offseason and at a time where they Eagles need to be coming together, he is pulling them apart.
This has always been my problem...
When Riley Cooper and Cary Williams got into a fight at Philadelphia Eagles practice on Thursday, Michael Vick stepped in and tried to prevent the situation from escalating. As the video we posted earlier shows, Cooper walked away and looked like he wanted nothing to do with the scrum. Williams, however, seemed furious. Cooper insisted […]
Cary Williams was brought to Philadelphia to bring Super Bowl experience and quality play at the cornerback position.
So far Williams has been anything but an experienced veteran for the Eagles. On the heels of his fight with Riley Cooper on Thursday, the question now being asked, is whether or not Williams is a liability for the Eagles.
Michael Vick, who is the teams captain,...
Things can get heated between teammates during a typical NFL practice. But when Eagles cornerback Cary Williams and receiver Riley Cooper got into at practice on Thursday, it took two unlikely figures, receiver DeSean Jackson and QB Mike Vick to step in and get Williams back in line.
Williams was covering the receiver during one-on-one drills. After the play, they stood toe...
Because of Chip Kelly, being the Oregon Ducks Placekicker was the easiest job in the world. You didn’t have to do a whole lot.
Well, maybe the second easiest job. A weatherman in San Diego just has to show up every day and say “it’s going to be: nice.” CC Lewis Black for that joke.
Chip Kelly was very aggressive in terms of going for it on fourth down and on two-point conversions...
