When the Cleveland Browns picked Brandon Weeden with the teams 2nd pick in the 2012 NFL draft (22nd) overall lots of heads were turned. The man who led Oklahoma state to so many wins in his senior year, wasn’t supposed to be taken that high in the draft according to so many NFL scouts. The former president Mike Holmgren set Weeden up for instant failure. Holmgren made statements to the media saying the Browns were going to win a lot of games in 2012. Well, guess what? That didn’t happen, Cleveland only had 5 wins. Holmgren said he knew a few things about quarterbacks too. Weeden comes into the Browns camp this year under a completely different situation than he faced last season. You could say under the Banner led Browns, Weeden already has 2 strikes against him. The first strike is his not-so-good rookie season. Some say it was bad coaching, while I agree that Pat Shurmur couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag, Weeden still made some bad decisions throughout the 2012 season....
  • Weeden has no future in Cleveland. He's a failed baseball player that was looking for a backup sport. Holmgren and Heckert were the fools that drafted him in round #1.
The Browns new regime are smart enough to know that you don't buy a team and build your future on a guy that's already 30 years old.
  • Weeden will be just fine, with Norv coaching him he'll make big strides.
  • Holmgren just happened to be in the right place at the right time with great players and coaches around him and he parlayed that into jeapoardizing the Seahawks and the Browns,Where is he now?He is a fraud like Phil Jackson,Michael Jordan made Phil Jackson and Shaq and Kobe helped alittle,Thats why he wont take any team not ready made and loaded with talent!Stick a fork in Weeden,Good for Colt McCoy getting out!
  • there are no good players left to coach in Cleveland...go bengals and steelers
  • Weeden will be fine....yes he had some bad games, but i think he had an pretty good year....first he threw for over 3 thousand yards....(how many cleveland quarterbacks have done that in the last 30 years)...last year the nfl analysis picked the browns to win 0 games (they won 5)...and um lets see the browns lost 5 games by a touchdown or less that they could easily have won....losing 1 game by 1 point, 1 by 4 points and one in overtime....personally i think the coach lost 4 of the 5
but they should have won 9 games and been right there....just relax and enjoy the ride...had mccoy started last year they would have won 0 games...not to mention the fact that they played in the toughest division in the league....(oh i forgot to add one bonus...weeden beat the steelers last year (when was the last time a browns quaterback beat the steelers....better yet when was the last time a brown rookie QB beat pittsburg...i believe it was 1970...
  • So far I am not impressed with anything the Browns have done. Was excited about the new owner but that diminished quickly with the hire of Banner and that idiot Mike Lombardi as well as the stooge for Banner Chudzinski. Haslam's only interest is money sure did a con job on Cleveland fans. I wish much luck to Dawson, Cribbs, Gocong and the rest of the players fortunate enough to be out of the orgainiztion. Especially to most screwed over guy who never had a chance here Colt McCoy. Been a fan for more than 65 years but no longer!! Going to support Niners and Ravens.

Ground hog day: Browns deep housecleaning again

Since 1999 and the rebirth of the Cleveland Browns, the road has been more bumps than smooth pavement. New management in CEO Joe Banner and GM Mike Lombardi has brought some hope to the team, but it seems like the same song playing over again. However, once again the Browns are gutting the old model in order to start a new one, kind of like ground hog day. A repeat of what already...

The Cleveland Browns moving to a 3-4 defense, does it make sense to cut linebackers?

Written By: Tim F from North Olmsted   There are many comments floating around about the Browns.  I figure I might as well add mine… for what they are worth. The release of Chris Gocong may be a football decision or a personal one.  I noticed, as many of you have I’m sure, that Chris was traded from the Eagles to the Browns.  The thought here is maybe Mr. Banner did not see...

This NFL free agent class was “one of the worst”

The Cleveland Browns struck quickly in free agency with Desmond Bryant and Paul Kruger before executing some more conservative signings, presumably for depth. Of course as they continue to cut players like Usama Young and Chris Gocong loose, many fans wonder if the Browns were too conservative in their free agency signings with holes all over the field still. If you believe respected...

Chicago Bears Updated 2013 NFL Draft Team Needs

The Chicago Bears didn’t do too much to bolster their roster on the open market, but the club looks to be slightly better off—if anything—after almost four weeks of 2013 NFL Free Agency.  Let’s examine their updated team needs heading into the 2013 NFL Draft (in no particular order). Cleveland Browns Mock Draft: Building around Brandon Weeden

The 2013 NFL Draft is just 24 days away, and teams are finalizing their draft board over the next few weeks. One of the major questions heading into this draft is how high Geno Smith will go and where will the rest of the quarterbacks fall. As a whole, this draft isn’t a strong class unless of course you need some defensive or offensive line help, other than that you might want...

Mohamed Massaquoi no longer to been seen sitting on the bench for The Cleveland Browns He signed in Jacksonville

The guy who former Browns president told us would have a big year last season has now agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars.   Mohamed Massaquoi and the Jaguars have come to terms to sign the wide receiver who spent more time injured than he did playing to a deal. last season Massaquoi only caught 17 passes after Holmgren told the fans in Cleveland “This is going to be...

A serious question for Cleveland Browns fans. Did Joe Banner get rid of Chris Gocong for personal reasons

Joe Banner the man who used to run another NFL team has a long history of being a ruthless business man. When he was hired to become the CEO of the Cleveland Browns, the fans in Cleveland really didn’t have much of an idea of what to expect. Now that Banner has had the axe dropped on Chris Gocong for the second time in his NFL career, we are left to wonder if Banner has any personal...

NFL News: Mohamed Massaquoi signs with Jaguars

And that’s all she wrote, folks. The 2009 second round trio of David Veikune, Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi are now all former members of the Cleveland Browns as MoMass reportedly came to agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Massaquoi will be remembered as a guy who couldn’t stay on the field. You can’t blame him for the time he was crumpled by Pittsburgh Steeler...

Mohamed Massaquoi Visits the Texans

Former Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi visited the Texans. He has also visited the Jaguars recently — Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) April 5, 2013   The Houston Texans have hosted free agent wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi who has been with the Cleveland Browns since 2009. Massaquoi was drafted out of Georgia in the 2009 NFL Draft in the 2nd round (50th overall) and has...

Jaguars Sign WR Mohamed Massaquoi

Ryan O’Halloran reports that the Jaguars have signed WR Mohamed Massaquoi. Aaron Wilson reports that Massaquoi receives a two-year deal. Massaquoi, 26, recently visited with the Texans as well, but ultimately chose to sign on with Jacksonville after finding minimal interest on the open market. Last year, he tallied 17 receptions for 254 yards and no touchdowns in nine games for...
