Brandon Weeden's long weekend will be spent helping his home state recover from devastating tornadoes earlier this week. The Browns quarterback said Thursday he doesn't yet know exactly what he'll be doing, but he knows he's flying home and has volunteered to lend a hand in and around Moore, Okla., where his wife, Melanie, grew up. "There's so much devastation," Weeden said. "Just to do my part, I feel like it's the right thing to do, especially when it hits close like that with your wife's family. That's my plan for the weekend." Melanie Weeden's family lives so close to where the storm touched down that Brandon Weeden spoke about the area in detail following the Browns OTA practice Thursday. "There's a park, literally, two blocks between my brother-in-law and my mother-in-law, and (local authorities) said, 'If you're at that park, get out of the way,'" Weeden said. "It was destroyed. Once we heard it was destroyed, obviously there's no cell phone service. We couldn't get hold of them for about an hour. So my wife was panicked and we were panicked. It was tough being so far away. I'm all the way up here, there's nothing we can really do about it. "My brother-in-law got in the car and drove away from it. My mother-in-law works in the administration building for Moore Public Schools, so she was in a basement, fortunately. She's very, very blessed. We got lucky. But being up here, seeing my wife, she was rattled and it was very tough." The Browns will have their third and final week of OTA sessions next week, and Weeden said he didn't hesitate in offering to help back in Oklahoma over the holiday weekend. "I'm real close with the lieutenant governor, Todd Lamb," Weeden said. "I sent him a text the other day and said, 'Hey, man, I want to help any way I can help.' He's supposed to text me today and give me a few options what to do. Whatever he tells me. I'll do anything, whether it's getting in the rubble and doing whatever, it doesn't matter, I'll be there to help."
