Man, it’s getting tough to make it through a week of football without a season ending injury. This time we have another quarterback and it happened to a player, Matt Leinart, on a team, the Houston Texans, that already lost a starting quarterback, Matt Schaub, for the season. After the Indianapolis Colts lost uber-star QB Peyton Manning for the season the Texans were expected to win the AFC South and earn their first playoff berth. With presumably rookie T.J. Yates taking over the QB reigns unless newly signed veteran turnover machine Jake Delhomme takes over, the Texans just might not steamroll into the playoffs.Other than Arian Foster or Ben Tate, most Texans offensive weapons such as Owen Daniels and Andre Johnson will lose fantasy value with Yates at the helm. The Texans’ defense might also take a hit if Yates forces the defense to play more than usual due to a high number of turnovers. But Yates might be one of those rare third string rookie quarterbacks that turns out to be pr...

Yates will remain the starter despite the signings of two experienced quarterbacks in the past week.Head coach Gary Kubiak told the Houston Chronicle that the fifth-round pick is the team's starting quarterback and will get the call Sunday when the Texans face the Atlanta Falcons.Yates was handed the starting role following season-ending...

Texans, Jaguars facing QB questions again

Houston and Jacksonville are facing more quarterback questions. It matters for one. It's moot for the other. The Texans likely lost Matt Leinart for the season because of a broken collarbone in Sunday's 20-13 victory against the Jaguars. The injury comes two weeks after starter Matt Schaub suffered a season-ending foot injury. The Jaguars benched rookie Blaine Gabbert...

Texans start over with new QBs

Texans coach Gary Kubiak faced the big question after Wednesday's practice he's probably asked himself several times over the past few days. How's this going to work? Rookie quarterback T.J. Yates and rusty veterans Jake Delhomme and Kellen Clemens shared snaps for the Texans (8-3) as they scrambled to prepare for Sunday's game against Atlanta (7-4). Yates, a fifth...

Tennessee Titans positioned for playoff berth push

The Tennessee Titans have been written off by many this season after winning only twice in their last six games before taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. However, given the circumstances which unfolded on Sunday, the Tennessee Titans have to be considered right in the mix for the AFC South division title. The Houston Texans already were going to have to go...

Falcons-Texans Preview

The Houston Texans have had to overcome their fair share of injuries on their path to the top of the AFC South. Their road to the postseason stands to become a bit more turbulent with an inexperienced rookie quarterback under center. After losing its top two QBs to season-ending injuries, Houston turns to T.J. Yates in hopes of extending the longest single-season winning streak...

NFL Weekly Recap: Week 12

Another week, another crushing blow for the Houston Texans.  The current top dog in the AFC lost yet another quarterback on Sunday, leaving a rookie 5th round pick charged with leading the Texans to the promised land. Are they still the team to beat in the AFC, or will they just be holding on desperate to a playoff spot? We talk about all that and more in this week’s recap....

Daunte Culpepper, still waiting for a call

With Houston down to T.J. Yates and Kellen Clemens and either Brodie Croyle or Sage Rosenfels or maybe Dan Pastorini, it’s critical that the Texans add a quarterback with veteran postseason experience, if the team hopes to have a good experience in the postseason. They’ve scratched Favre off the list, sort of.  And for good…

Sunday's NFL injury report

Trouble for Texans; more Snaps Judgments

Caleb Hanie is no Jay Cutler, and Matt Leinart is a lot like Matt Schaub -- likely out for the season. Don Banks breaks down another Tebow-rific Sunday that shaped the playoff races.
