49ers a landing spot for Manning?

Bill Barnwell has surveyed the land and come up with a list of possible landing spots for Peyton Manning.  In his eyes, Classic Colt Jim Harbaugh would be a perfect match for Peyton Manning: If Jim Harbaugh can't get Andrew Luck, wouldn't this be the next best thing? With Harbaugh as coach, that young offensive line percolating, a dominant defense, and the NFC West on the...

Kravitz: So now we know -- Manning throws, but he won't play

It never made any sense for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning to come back and play this season. Whether it was in red-zone situations or some other type of semi-controlled circumstance, it was never worth the risk to expose Manning's surgically repaired neck to the violence of an NFL game.

Colts break through for first win of season

The Colts aren't completely helpless without Peyton Manning. Indianapolis won its first game of the season on Sunday, beating the Tennessee Titans, 27-13. Colts finally get first win, stun Titans (AP)

The Indianapolis Colts finally won without Peyton Manning. It just took 14 games and three quarterbacks to get there. Dan Orlovsky threw one touchdown pass, a key block on an 80-yard TD run and the Colts defense held Chris Johnson to 55 yards rushing, to beat Tennessee 27-13 and avoid becoming the second 0-16 team in league history.

Where Barnwell Went Wrong

Many have asked me to respond to Bill Barnwell's piece in Grantland about the Colts. Most of it has been addressed on this site before, but I wanted to give a cliff-notes style response to his specific arguments. Barnwell is one of the best NFL writers around, and one of my absolute favorites. This was not his best work, however. ARGUMENT #1: The Colts collapse began in April...

Colts TE Clark inactive vs. Titans (AP)

Colts tight end Dallas Clark is out for Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans with a neck injury. Clark missed four games after injuring his lower left leg, then played last week against Baltimore. Jacob Tamme will start in his place. Colts linebacker Philip Wheeler is out with a foot injury and Ernie Sims will replace him.

Tuesday Morning Quarterback: Week 15 Edition

Did Sunday cost the New York Giants the playoffs? With the Dallas Cowboys winning Saturday, the G-Men had to keep pace. Fortunately the Giants were playing a weak 4-9 Redskin team…or not. The Giants only put up 10 and the Skins threw up 23. Even with the Giants having the leading passer (Eli Manning, 257 yards) and the leading rusher (Ahmad Bradshaw, 58 yards); they still tanked...
