Last week: 10-6
WEEK 2
THURSDAY Bears @ Packers MY PICK
SUNDAY Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) @ Buffalo Bills (0-1) 1 p.m. Both of these teams have high expectations for their season, especially the Bills after they rebuilt their defensive line.  Last week they looked bad against the Jets on offense, defense and special teams. The good news is that they have no where to go but up.  Normally I would lean toward the home team but the Chiefs have enough talent to take this one on the road.  Jamaal Charles should see plenty of work to keep the Bills pass rush on its heels.  Chiefs 23, Bills 17
Cleveland Browns (0-1) @ Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) The Browns lost by only one point last week, but both of their first round picks (Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson) underperformed.  They both have talent but the Bengals should bounce back from the beating they took from the Ravens last week.  BenJarvus Green-Ellis had a solid game as he is accustomed to having, but look for A.J. Green to explode this week.  Bengals 24, Browns 21
Minnesota Vikings (1-0) @ Indianapolis Colts (0-1) Andrew Luck's first start was also his first 300-yard game, but he also threw three interceptions.  As you can see from his stat line, Luck did some good things and some bad things.  The Vikings pass rush should force some of those bad things today.  The Vikings will rely on Adrian Peterson again this week. Peterson was a game-time decision last week and ended up with 84 yards and two TDs.  The Vikings will get a good game from Luck and the Colts but they will have enough to win.  Vikings 31, Colts 29
New Orleans Saints (0-1) @ Carolina Panthers (0-1) This one could be an offensive show with Cam Newton and Drew Brees at their respective helms.  The Saints lost to Robert Griffin III last week which was a surprise.  They will bounce back because not many teams will make the playoffs after going 0-2. Both teams know this and it will be a battle.  Saints 36, Panthers 19
Houston Texans (1-0) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) The Texans are a solid bunch just looking at the talent they have on both sides of the ball.  The Jaguars, well, have nice weather for most of the year.  Besides Maurice Jones-Drew and a couple others, the Jags are lacking in a number of areas, including QB.  They will have a tough season.  Texans 24, Jags 12
Oakland Raiders (0-1) @ Miami Dolphins (0-1) This is another one of those games where each team probably isn't good enough for the playoffs and if you are one that chooses the safe way, you would pick the Dolphins at home.  I on the other hand will pick the Raiders because the Dolphins just aren't talented compared to most of the league.  The Raiders can throw it and run it.  The Dolphins can almost run it and definitely can't pass it, so they are going for a high draft pick this year.  Raiders 21, Dolphins 16
Arizona Cardinals (1-0) @ New England Patriots (1-0) Each and every game the number 1 priority for the Patriots is to protect Tom Brady.  If they can do that, then this game is in the bag.  The Cardinals don't seem like a team that has much on offense to stay with the Patriots.  If you are a Pats fan you have to be excited by the defense and the running game.  Those were the two weaknesses last season, but this is a new year.  Patriots 34, Cardinals 17
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) @ New York Giants (0-1) The defending champion Giants laid an egg on Wednesday night last week.  No one was worse than Victor Cruz who dropped at least four passes.  He and Eli Manning will have better luck against the Buccaneers.  Tampa Bay could have some success throwing the ball because they have a decent QB and some good talent around him.  The Giants will get their act together enough to win this one. Giants 24, Bucs 14 Baltimore Ravens (1-0) @ Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) The battle of the birds would be quite easy to choose if this scenario happened in the wild.  Go eagles, but we were not talking about the birds.  The Ravens demolished the Bengals and the Eagles just slipped by. The Ravens have an improving offense and a aging, yet stout defensive front. The Eagles could be without DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, so without them, they don't have the talent surrounding Vick.  Ravens 20 Eagles 14
Washington Redskins (1-0) @ St. Louis Rams (0-1) 4 p.m. Robert Griffin III had one of the best debuts in NFL history last weekend.  The Skins surprised the favored Saints and outscored them for the win.  RG3 has my vote for rookie of the year and I think he will be better than Vick was in his rookie year.  The Skins defense is strong this year which should hinder the progress of the Rams.  The Rams are struggling for talent on offense so they will not be winning a shootout.  Skins 37, Rams 16
Dallas Cowboys (1-0) @ Seattle Seahawks (0-1)  The Cowboys played a great game against the Giants on the league's opening night.  The Cowboys could have been overlooked this offseason, but if Tony Romo can keep his turnovers down then they will be in a great position to bet in the playoffs.  The Seahawks have a their 12th man in their crowd which makes it hard to audible and hear what is going on. Russell Wilson will lead the Seahawks to their first win today as the streaky Cowboys fall.  Seahawks 26, Cowboys 24
New York Jets (1-0) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) I admit that I was wrong about the Jets last week and they showed everyone that they are better than advertised.  The Steelers could be without Troy Polamalu and James Harrison on defense.  Even without their two stars the Steelers can't afford to lose two in a row, so I can see them playing much better offensively this week and making a couple plays on defense. Steelers 24, Jets 14
Tennessee Titans (0-1) @ San Diego Chargers (1-0) Tennessee got smacked around by the Patriots last week and even more alarming was that Chris Johnson was kept in check all day. He didn't even get double digits in yards.  The Chargers will be able to do what they want against the Titans especially on defense.  Their isn't much talent at receiver for the Titans besides Kenny Britt who has been suspended earlier this year. Chargers 33, Titans 24
Detroit Lions (1-0) @ San Francisco 49ers (1-0) 8:20 p.m. What a big game! The last time these two played was last season in Detroit and the two coaches almost ended up fighting it out.  The Lions and 49ers have different offenses but both have strong defenses that can carry them throughout the season. The 49ers are a scary team in the NFC and should go deep in the playoffs.  The Lions have great talent on offense and should keep this game really close.  49ers 21, Lions 20
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Denver Broncos (1-0) @ Atlanta Falcons (1-0) Peyton Manning vs. Matt Ryan. A great way to end week two.  I really like the Falcons because of their skilled positions on offense. Julio Jones is a beast.  Manning showed everyone last week that he is almost back to his old self.  The Falcons will take this one but it will be a struggle.  Manning is once again a football legend, but he will throw one pick late in the game to lose this one.  Falcons 21, Broncos, 14

Coughlin angry at Schiano for having Bucs hit Manning on kneel down

Giants coach Tom Coughlin yelled at first-year Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano after the Giants' 41-34 victory on Sunday because he didn't like that Schiano told his players to knock Giants quarterback Eli Manning down when Manning was taking a knee to run out the final seconds, ESPNNewYork.com reported. "I don't think you do that," Coughlin said after the game...

Monday Night Football: Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons Preview and Prediction

Both the Broncos and Falcons are coming off of double-digit wins in Week 1, albeit against much different teams. The Broncos defeated the Steelers in Peyton Manning’s Denver debut, while the Falcons easily defeated the lowly Chiefs, who are playing like the worst team in football right now. This game will be very evenly matched and will feature two explosive offenses. Peyton Manning...

Falcons pick off Manning three times, hold on to edge Broncos

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Falcons added to what was already one of the biggest questions of the young NFL season: Is Peyton Manning healthy? Atlanta picked off Manning three times in the first half Monday and survived a late Denver rally for a 27-21 win in front of a raucous crowd at the Georgia Dome. Matt Ryan threw two touchdown passes, one to Tony Gonzalez and the other to Roddy...

Manning falters early, Broncos lose to Falcons

Peyton Manning's second game with the Denver Broncos looked nothing like his first. Manning threw interceptions on Denver's first three possessions, and the Broncos could not recover from the poor start in a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. In a 3-hour, 27-minute game marred by questionable decisions from replacement officials and long clock stoppages...

Did Peyton Manning spark an increase in girl’s named Peyton?

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is from a family that has some pretty unique names. His father is Archie Manning and his brother is Eli Manning, whose full name is Elisha Nelson Manning. However did Peyton Manning spark a resurgence of parents naming their new girls Peyton? According to babycenter.com, girls were named Peyton 258 per million babies in 1995 and when Manning...

The Football Fan’s False Dichotomy: Rooting For Laundry

Editor's note: With Peyton Manning playing again tonight, and so far this season looking like himself, this is a fantastically written piece by Josh Boeke about the nature of fanhood. Specifically, Boeke takes on the nature of Colts fans and their now ex-quarterback Peyton Manning. While plenty has been written on the issue, this piece, in my opinion, is one of the most well...

Week 2 – Monday Night Falcons vs. Broncos Pick Against the Spread

We nailed two picks at 1:00, lost two at 4:00, and closed out Sunday of week 2 with a win thanks to the 49ers over the Lions. Tonight, we’re given an oustanding Monday Night game between the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos. Is this one worth betting on? DENVER BRONCOS @ ATLANTA FALCONS (-3) The spread has not moved on this line at all, standing pat at Falcons (-3). I was expecting...

New York Giants: Victor Cruz Redeems Himself After Opening Night Drops

Hero of The GameThe way the New York Giants opened up against the Tampa Bay Bucs, the last thing you would've guessed was Eli Manning having a record setting performance. I tend to think the hero of the game has a direct impact that effects the final score, therefore I had to consider a few Giants other than Manning. Though Manning played well down the stretch, Manning was unquestionably...

Denver Broncos at Atlanta Falcons: Week 2 NFL Pick

Denver Broncos (1-0) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0) If it wasn’t for Green Bay/Chicago, this would be the game of the week. Actually, scratch that, Green Bay/Chicago was an incredibly ugly game that should have been the game of the week, but wasn’t because teams only had 3 days to prepare and played much worse than they normally do. I hate this new one game on Thursday every week thing...

Victor Cruz Catches 80-Yard TD, Then He Busts Out Some Salsa

New York Giants QB Eli Manning threw a perfect pass to an in stride Victor Cruz which went for 80 yards, just when the Giants needed it most against The Buccaneers. Victor Cruz followed up the TD catch with his famous ‘Salsa’ dance celebration in honor of his late grandmother. It was graceful, as always. Article found on: Cosby Sweaters

Tom Coughlin has words for Greg Schiano after Giants victory

During the final play of today’s Giants-Buccaneeers game, quarterback Eli Manning kneeled the ball to secure a Giants win.  But it looks like Bucs head coach Greg Schiano told his team to keep fighting and to try to get the ball back. Once Manning snapped the ball, the Bucs defensive front rushed through the line and knocked him down. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was furious...

Looking At The YAC Allowed In The Steelers 27-10 Win Over The Jets

Last week I noted the poor job the Pittsburgh Steelers did in their opener against the Denver Broncos at tackling the catch as they allowed 126 total YAC in that game. Now of course it did not help that Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had 70 of those yards on the 1 yard screen pass from quarterback Peyton Manning that ended in a touchdown 70 yards later, but you just can&...

Falcons Keys to Victory: Broncos Edition

The Falcons offense is riding high after putting 40 points on the Chiefs defense but the defense is dealing with the loss of Brent Grimes for the season. In week two, the Falcons will take on a team that made the playoffs last season and also added a Hall of Fame quarterback to their team. This game takes place on Monday and as Falcons fans know, Monday night has not been kind to...

Anomaly or not, Giants offensive line is a running problem

No one likes to agree that they’re wrong, but an ever-growing person does. Houston, we not only have a problem along the New York Giants' offensive line, but we need help in figuring out what or who it is. In 2010, the Giants’ offensive line was ranked second in the pass/pass blocking, gaining an average of 242.2 yards through the air and allowing only 16 sacks of quarterback...

Week 3: Falcons-Chargers matchup

Atlanta at San Diego Sunday, 4:05 p.m. ET, at Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego - TV: FOX; DirecTV: 714 *TV announcers: Chris Myers, Tim Ryan, Jaime Maggio *Keys to the game: The Falcons' shuffled secondary gets yet another stiff test with the Chargers' potentially explosive offense. We say potentially, because it's still difficult to predict how aggressive San Diego...
