PLAYERS: Arian Foster
TEAMS: Houston Texans
After winning a tough game last week against the Jets on the road, the Houston Texans are looking to keep their perfect season in  tact as they host the Green Bay Packers in a Sunday night game on NBC this week at 8:20 ET. Before the season the Texans were favored to not just win their division but to make a deep playoff run and be one of the top teams in the AFC when the playoffs started. They will look to make that a reality with another win this week against an unfamiliar opponent in the Packers.
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster will be looking to add to his league high 5 rushing TD’s this week against the Packers.
The Packers come into this game ranked 15th defensively in the league allowing 230 yards a game passing and 114 yards a game on the ground per game. This should work in favor of the Texans who are a heavy run team, that uses the run to open up the play action pass throughout the game. Houston Texans RB Arian Foster has been big this season, averaging 106 yards and 1 TD a game rushing the ball. This week may be the same story for Foster. In the Packers 3 losses this season they’ve given up 294 combined rushing yards. It seems to be the formula to beating this team. Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels is also off to a hot start this year. Leading the team in receptions, yards,  and receiving TD’s. A lot of this is due to the coverages teams are showing WR Andre Johnson. Daniels who has always been a consistent target for Texans QB Matt Schaub will be blanketed over the middle of the field while the Packers are in their zone coverage schemes during this game. It should open up the outside for Johnson and give him windows to make big plays off double moves and routes that go deep over the top of the offense. Many have said Johnson has lost a step and might be on the decline with the slow start he’s having this year. With the moves made in the Green Bay defense this off season he could have one of the biggest games of the year thus far on Sunday. The last 3 weeks he’s faced off against some great CB’s outside like Antonio Cromartie, Champ Bailey, and Jason McCourtey. The Packers do still have Charles Woodson but with his move to safety Johnson should have some one on one opportunities outside against Trammond Williams and Sam Sheilds.
Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson could break out this game, after a slow start to the season.
The defense will be looking to do the same thing that every other defense has done during their wins over Green Bay this season, get to Aaron Rodgers and get him to the ground. Through 5 weeks Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 21 times. The Texans defense led by Wade Phillips will be hoping to up that number if the offense gives them a lead to play with during this weeks game. DE JJ Watt trails only Clay Matthews in sacks this season with 7.5 and he’ll be looking to take the lead outright this week in a head to head match up. Watt who’s been a beast this year knows with the season ending injury to ILB Brian Cushing the whole defense will have to step up their game this week and the rest of the season to keep the Texans not only undefeated but among the leagues top teams. OLB  Connor Barwin, who led the Texans in sacks last season with 11.5 is still without a sack this year. This coulf be a good game for him and fellow OLB Brooks Reed. The Packers have shown they have a problem blocking speed off the edges all season long and speed is what the Texans have outside. If the Texans force the Packers to throw the ball for most of this game they’ll be right where they want to be. JJ Watt will be looking to get into Rodgers passing lanes and  disrupt some of his throws. The Texans secondary has been great at converting tipped balls to turnovers all season coming up with 3 INT’s off tipped passes thus far through 5 games.
Houston Texans DE JJ Watt will look to continue his dominance by both disrupting passes by Aaron Rodgers and getting after him as well.

Houston Texans fall in wake-up game against Packers

Houston Texans vs. Green Bay Packers: Week six key matchup

As far as philosophies go, the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers couldn’t be more different in their approach to winning football games. The Texans are a balanced team, playing solid defense while employing an equal mix of the run and pass offensively. The Packers, on the other hand, are fairly one-dimensional. They have success airing it out on offense to the detriment of the...

Does Keyshawn Martin Have Return Ability?

With the most recent moves that the Houston Texans have made in order to adjust their roster with the loss of Brian Cushing, the Texans cut Trindon Holliday and moved Keyshawn Martin into the returner role. Most fans thought that Martin was the original player that would take over that role when he was drafted and it would allow them to cut Jacoby Jones. When the Texans started the...

Texans implode as unbeaten streak ends

HOUSTON If you needed to joke about the Houston Texans being overwhelmed, undisciplined or discombobulated in a 42-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers Sunday at Reliant Stadium, they gave you plenty of material. There's the one about Arian Foster twice getting tackled by nothing more than the grass under his feet. Happened to Ben Tate once, too. There was the one about the third...

Houston Texans vs. Green Bay Packers: Week six injury update

The big injury news coming from the Houston Texans this week has of course been the season-ending ACL tear of ILB Brian Cushing. By now, all Texans fans have come to the realization that their defensive captain will miss the remainder of the 2012 season, creating a huge hole to fill in the middle of the defense. The road to the Super Bowl certainly got tougher for the 5-0 Texans...

Cushing focuses on health after injury

Houston Texans star linebacker Brian Cushing is turning his focus to his recovery in the wake of a season-ending knee injury. Cushing, Houston's leading tackler, was hurt in the Texans' 23-17 win over the New York Jets on Monday night on a low, rolling hit by guard Matt Slauson. He was placed on injured reserve with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. A...

After Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt sacked Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Sunday night's NFL game at Reliant Stadium, Watt ridiculed Rodgers' trademark championship belt celebration move by throwing away the belt, then giving a military salute. It looks like Watt won't be asked to be part of any State Farm "discount double check...

J.J. Watt mocks Rodgers' belt celebration

After picking up a huge sack for the Houston Texans, J.J. This time, the defensive end put his own unique spin on the celebration by throwing the belt away and saluting the crowd.Via: @cjzero

J Simp: Week 6 NFL Picks

Denver, CO. A fairly good slate of picks in week 5, as yours truly went 10-4, and I am now 50-27 for the year. My colleague, “Headline”, continues to fall behind in the race. He went 8-6, and is now 42-35 on the season. If only he could learn to predict games with his mind, and not his heart……on to week 6……J Simp’s Picks:Pittsburgh Steelers 26, Tennessee Titans 16Atlanta...

Texans DE Jamison, Green Bay LB Perry injured

Texans defensive end Tim Jamison left Sunday night's game against Green Bay with a right Achilles injury and the team said he would not return. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Jamison played in each of the Texans' first five games, backing up J.J. Watt. Jamison had nine tackles, including a sack, and a deflected pass this season. Packers linebacker Nick Perry left in the second...

Packers 42, Texans 24

HOUSTON -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers did an exceptional job dissecting the Houston Texans' defense with his dazzling combination of poise and precision. The last thing Rodgers needed Sunday night at Reliant Stadium was assistance. For some curious reason, during the most critical drive of the contest, the Texans felt compelled to render aid. And given the...
