I don’t know who the Titans signed midweek to wear #28, but whoever it was looked a hell of a lot like their old running back Chris Johnson. We haven’t seen Chris Johnson since he held out for a big money contract prior to the 2011 season, so it probably wasn’t him. But that was one hell of an impressive performance by whoever that guy was. Maybe we’ll see him again sometime… Or… Maybe it was the horrid Buffalo Bills run defense. One which allowed 94 yards to Shonn Greene, 137 yards to Brandon Bolden, 106 yards to Stevan Ridley, 106 yards to Frank Gore, 81 yards to Kendall Hunter, 66 rushing yards to KEVIN KOLB, and now 195 rushing yards on 18 carries for two touchdowns to Chris Johnson. 83 of those 195 yards came on one carry, so it was only 112 yards on the other 17 carries, Bills fans. So… I hope that makes you feel better. Because your defense is awful, and you should feel awful because of how bad they are at playing defense. You think the Patriots defense is bad? Because the Patriots are a millions times better than the $100 million Bills’ defense. In the Bills four losses, their defense has allowed an AVERAGE of 45 points. 45 points! That’s horrible. This game was actually an improvement for you, Buffalo. You only yielded 35 points to that vaunted Titans’ offense. Congratulations. You gave up 195 yards on 18 carries to a guy who was lucky to get 195 yards a month. Now you have a bye. Maybe you should work on your run defense, because you’re going to need it. Because then you get Houston off of your bye. And they kind of have the best running back in the league. And it’s in Houston. Then guess what? You get to go against the Patriots, in New England! Are you starting to see how massive of a blow this last second loss to the Titans is in the grand scheme of things? The Bills are done. Their season is just about over. Because the next time they don’t lose will be this bye week, and even that’s questionable. Maybe they’ll beat the Dolphins, but I’m not penciling in that win until they clock hits zero. If you think there is a chance they beat Houston or New England on the road before that Dolphins’ game, you’re a moron of epic proportions. But what does this win mean for Tennessee? Well, they improved to 3-4, so that’s good. Maybe Chris Johnson is back for real. Maybe it was just the Bills’ defense. The Titans go home to face the Colts, which would put them in second place in the division, before hosting the Bears. Basically, the Titans need to beat the Colts just so they even have the ability to maybe be .500 heading into their bye week after traveling to Miami. That’s a tall task, but it’s exactly what the Titans need to do if they want to be anywhere near the playoffs. Because there’s no way they’re catching the Texans. Something drastic would have to happen for that to happen. They’re best shot is by taking two of these last three games so they can focus on their last six games. At Jacksonville, vs. Houston, at Indianapolis, vs. New York (Jets), at Green Bay, and home against Jacksonville. Houston and Green Bay seem like automatic losses. The Titans have to sweep the Jaguars AND Colts in order to have a realistic shot at the Wild Card. Divisional games are always tough. Sweeping a season series is even tougher. This win against the Bills was a good start, but the Titans have a ton of work to do if they plan on making the second season.
