The eve of All Hallow's Eve was not a good one for the New England Patriots, as they trailed the Pittsburgh Steelers the entire game en route to a 25-17 loss on Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Even though the game was mostly lopsided in the Steelers favor, the Patriots managed to shrink the score to 23-17 after scoring a touchdown with 2:35 remaining in the fourth quarter. Bill Belichick then made a somewhat questionable call and decided to try an onside kick, even though the Patriots had all three timeouts remaining as well as the two-minute warning. The Patriots eventually got the ball back with 19 second remaining, but Tom Brady was sacked and the ball flew out of the Patriots' own end zone to close the game out on a safety.

Ben Roethlisberger absolutley shredded the Patriot's defense, passing for 365 yards and 2 touchdowns and completing 36/50 pass attempts. The Steelers offense moved the ball with ease, and the game would have been much more lopsided if it weren't for the stalling of the offense inside the red zone and a missed field goal. The offense didn't punt once until there was 28 seconds left in the game.

Tom Brady came into the game 6-1 all time against the Steelers, but he left the game 6-2 after a relatively unimpressive showing. Brady did indeed have a higher QB rating (101.8) than Roethlisberger (97.5) but that doesn't tell the whole story, as the Patriots offense was never able to get into a solid rhythm. Brady also threw for a season-low 198 passing yards.

The Patriots defense is now ranked last in the league after their pitiful performance on Sunday. Each of the Steelers scoring drives were over ten plays and the Steelers dominated time of possession with a total of over 39 minutes. In the first quarter alone, the Patriots only got off three offensive plays, largely due to the Patriots defense not being able to get off the field.

It was an all-around bad day for the Patriots with a poor showing from the usually explosive offense, a terrible showing from defense, and even a questionable call from Bill Belichick.

The Pats now are tied atop the AFC East at 5-2 with the Buffalo Bills, and will face the New York Giants next week on Sunday, November 6th at 4:15 PM ET on FOX in Gillette Stadium.
