There are some things in life that just don’t work out the way you want them to.  You want to be a rock star.  But you’re an accountant and you sound like Darius Rucker.  Hootie and The Blowfish were never a rock band so you’re never going to be a rock star.  I know, I’m sorry, the truth hurts.  But once you figure that out, you get to pay better attention to what you CAN do and you start singing at college coffee houses to 15 to 20 disaffected youth.  It’s a good feeling to know your place.  Well, I think the Jags have finally figured out what Blaine Gabbert is: he’s not a rock star.  I don’t even know if he should be singing in coffee shops which I’ll say is a euphemism for the CFL.  Admittedly, he was hurt last week and probably shouldn’t have played but the facts are facts: his team scored zero points with him at the helm and he was slinging it everywhere but to his receivers.  If you don’t believe me, just ask Cecil Shorts.  He finished last week with just 3 catches on 11 t

Jags turn to Henne again at QB

Chad Henne has been in and out of the starting lineup before - just about every year he's been in the league actually. So this is nothing new. Henne will make his 38th career start when the Jacksonville Jaguars play at Oakland on Sunday. Henne is filling in for Blaine Gabbert, who is sidelined at least this week because of a laceration on the back of his throwing hand. It will...

Jaguars turn to Henne again to replace Gabbert

Home isn't where yards have been for Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew

Maurice Jones-Drew gets a second chance to celebrate his homecoming Sunday. A year ago the Bay Area native made his first appearance of his NFL career in Oakland but didn’t put on a show for his family and friends. Jones-Drew suffered a foot injury on the first play stayed in for one more play before limping off and missing the rest of the season. On Sunday the Jaguars return...

Marcedes Lewis likely to miss another game for Jags

Tight end Marcedes Lewis is noted for being one of the most durable Jaguars. He missed only three games in his first seven seasons with the team. He now seems destined to miss the first two games of this season with a nagging calf injury. Coach Gus Bradley said Lewis is a longshot to play Sunday in Oakland. Lewis wasn’t able to practice Wednesday and was limited to what he calls...

Jaguars Injury Report: Blaine Gabbert, Dwayne Gratz, Will Rackley

The Jacksonville Jaguars will look to rebound from their embarrassing week one loss against the Kansas City Chiefs when they face the Oakland Raiders this week. Jaguars head to West Coast for consecutive games

Maurice Jones-Drew doesn't need to hear the numbers. He's painfully aware of them. The Jacksonville Jaguars running back in winless in four trips to the West Coast, including 0-2 in the Bay Area. And his stats aren't pretty, either. Jones-Drew has 146 yards rushing on 41 carries and no touchdowns in games at Seattle (2009), San Francisco (2009), San Diego (2010) and...

Jacksonville Jaguars: 2013 Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (#31)

The Jaguars were essentially shut out in their opener, only scoring on a safety. Kansas City is a tough defense, but the fact is that Blaine Gabbert remains one of, if not the worst starting quarterbacks in the NFL. He completed just 16 of 35 for 121 yards and 2 interceptions without a score, but even worse is that just 22 of his yards came through the air. The rest were after the...

Could the Jacksonville Jaguars go 0-16?

On Wednesday, Shane Clemons asked whether the Denver Broncos might have a chance to become the second team in NFL history to win all 16 of their regular-season games. So in the interest of being fair and balanced, I'll be the TGS pessimist and ask whether the Jacksonville Jaguars can do the opposite and become only the second team in NFL history to go 0-16. Here's why it could...

Jacksonville Jaguars at Oakland Raiders: 2013 Week 2 NFL Pick

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) at Oakland Raiders (0-1) One of the most powerful trends in betting is known as the six and six trend, meaning teams who finish with 6 wins or fewer are 25-69 ATS as favorites of 6 or more since 2002. There are two issues with this trend. One, it’s very rare (it only happened 7 times all last season, going 2-5 ATS). Two, it’s even rarer that a situation...

The Oakland Raiders' gameplan vs the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Raiders put up a great fight versus the Jacksonville Jaguars and the offense looked light years ahead of last year’s poorly run unit. The defense also did better than expected against Andrew Luck and a Colts offense that looks like it can score some points when it’s in sync. This week may be the only time this season that the Raiders are favored but the game comes against...
