I guess you can go home again. Former Eagles Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Trotter, who had worked out with the team twice in the last week, has signed a one year contract with the team, according to Jay Glazer on Twitter. Trotter will likely take the spot of Jeff Garcia, who should be released now that Donovan McNabb is coming back. What Trotter will bring to the team is obvious: leadership. While he hasn't played since 2007 and his skills have certainly diminished since the last time he suited up for the Eagles, Trotter still has a veteran presence that the Birds defense has lacked since Brian Dawkins left. Trotter may not get much playing time, although he could be brought in for running situations and special teams, but he should have a huge role in the locker room.Welcome back, Trotter. Let's see what you have left in the tank.

  • Gotta love it!
  • one reason LEADERSHIP!

  • I have no problem with this signing. Garcia is no longer needed with Kolb proving he can be a more than capable backup. Mcnabb should be back soon and Vick will continue to get better as time goes on. Trotters leadership and ability to "blow up" the OL should prove useful against teams with better running games, especially division rivals Dallas and NY. His leadership should prove to be invaluable, and even if he doesnt get on the field much, just from a leadership and motivational standpoint I think this will be a great addition. Hopefully his knees are as good as he's saying they are!
  • "This just in, the Eagles are in intense negotiations to bring Dick Butkus back to the playing field, details on the Ten O'Clock News"
  • "This just in, he's the same age as your Danny Clark and Fred Robbins"
  • True, which makes them 32 and on the downslide of a career in the NFL. The average length of an NFL career out of college at say 22 yrs old is around 6 seasons depending on the position a guy plays. Besides I was not saying he couldn't play, although that will need to be determined. I was just making light of the news.
  • I hear ya. Its just that the Eagles need someone for teams like yours and Dallas to help enforce our run D. Of course Trot is on the downside of his career, hell I thought his career was over. But at this point, it doesnt hurt the Eagles to give him a try, we will see how this plays out ...
  • What brings them back is the cash my man, it's all about the benjamins. But who knows, dude may still have it, he was good when he played before.
  • Danny Clark isn't 66 you silly goose!
