The franchise tag looks more and more of an option for the New England Patriots as NFL sources have indicated both sides are still miles apart.

Welker is looking to gain money in the top five for wide receivers, something the Patriots are balking at.

The Patriots are being cautious whether Welker, who has taken an enormous amount of wear and tear, including a torn ACL in 2009, could last through a long term deal.

WR Wes Welker should take the franchise tag from the New England Patriots

Several reports over the last week have suggested that New England Patriots WR Wes Welker will holdout if the franchise which has promoted his prominence in the league, places the franchise tag on him prior to the start of free agency. I think that if Wes Welker gets the franchise tag placed on him for next season, he should simply show up, and play for the Patriots...

Looking at why Patriots personnel guru Nick Caserio used a different Wes Welker deadline…

Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio chatted with some of us yesterday at the NFL Combine, providing a state-of-the-franchise address, post-Super Bowl XLVI. This was my story on his appearance. As you’d expect, there were a lot of questions about Patriots WR Wes Welker, whose contract status is in doubt. He’ll be a free agent if he’s not re-signed, and the deadline...

2012 NFL draft: Possible selections for the New England Patriots

It’s hard to say that Tom Brady and the 2011 New England Patriots fell short of expectations. The AFC Champions took a questionable defense into the Super Bowl and many have said that their lack of wide receiver talent and more importantly a speed rusher on the edge hurt their chances of beating the Giants. I think it’s fair to say that if you replayed the Super Bowl 10 times...

Tom Brady and Gisele are vacationing with Wes Welker in Costa Rica

Remember how Gisele ripped the Patriots receivers for their inability to catch passes in the Super Bowl? (Of course you do.) She never mentioned any names, but everybody knew one of the people she was throwing under the bus was Wes Welker, who notably dropped a pass that probably would have sealed a Patriots victory. Welker owned up to the drop, while unnamed Patriots criticized...

While we were wondering how Welker would respond to criticism, a couples vacation with the Bradys was in the works

Immediately after the Super Bowl XLVI loss, Patriots WR Wes Welker was in tears for missing a key late catch. And almost at the same time, QB Tom Brady’s wife Gisele was voicing her displeasure for the team’s receivers. How would Welker respond? Would there be an issue between Brady and Welker? Well… Thanks to our stalker-iffic friends at x17online.com, we can figure out that...

Inside the Helmet: Wes Welker

Since becoming a Patriot in 2007, Wes Welker has blossomed into one of the game's best pass catchers. Get to know Welker in this week's editon of Inside the Helmet.

Tom Brady and Wes Welker have obviously put that Super Bowl drop behind them

Here we have Tom Brady with wife Gisele Bundchen vacationing in Costa Rica with non other than Wes Welker and his girlfriend, Anna Burns.  So it looks like all is well between Brady and Welker after Welker couldn’t catch a pass that essentially wins the Super Bowl for the Patriots. Or Brady couldn’t throw an accurate ball that essentially wins the Super Bowl for the Patriots...

Report: Tom Brady, Gisele Bundchen on Vacation With Wes Welker, Anna Burns

In their attempt to recover from a devastating Super Bowl loss, Tom Brady and Wes Welker are apparently enjoying an offseason vacation together. Brady and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, were seen in Costa Rica this week with a couple that appears to be Welker and his fiancee Anna Burns, according to a picture that was tweeted by GiseleBFans. Check out the photo of below. Check out a...

Notebook: Top WRs, CBs lead free-agent news

Free agency doesn’t start for more than three weeks, but teams are attempting to negotiate with their most valued players. In some cases, that isn’t going well and could lead to solid talent hitting the open market. From Brandon Carr to Carl Nicks to Wes Welker to Mike Wallace, free agency is becoming a priority.
