The Denver Broncos didn’t appear to need much luck when they beat the New England Patriots 26-16 in the AFC Championship Game in January, but perhaps if the weather had been a little cooler, the results would have been different. Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker told The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich” that the Broncos got “lucky” that temperatures were in the 60s when they played the Patriots. “Obviously, it definitely wasn’t the goal to win that one, but you need to win it to get your ultimate goal,” Welker said Friday about the AFC Championship Game win. “Definitely, it was a huge game, at home, we got some good weather — kinda got lucky with that — but we played a really good game that game. Really put everything together, offensively, defensively, special teams, and we were able to win it.” The Broncos didn’t fare as well in Super Bowl XLVIII, when they got demolished by the Seattle Seahawks 43-8 at MetLife Stadium. Welker said that “everything” went wrong in that game.

Would Denver Broncos head coach John Fox make for a better coordinator?

Every NFL head coach essentially takes the same path to their job. They work their way through the assistant coaching ranks, starting at the bottom of the totem poll, bouncing from place to place in order to move up the ladder, and finally landing a job as a coordinator. In that spot, they flourish, becoming an integral part of a team’s success. Because of that, a coach becomes...

Fantasy Football wide receivers set to break out

It has been pounded into our heads for years now. If you are going to win in Fantasy Football, you need running backs, running backs and then more running backs. While I am not totally dismissing this notion, I will submit that the wide receiver position has become equally important. The NFL is a passing league thanks to Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos and the running back...

NFL players shouldn’t be judged based upon rings

Have you ever wondered why the sports media tends to rate the greatness of an NFL quarterback on how many Super Bowl rings he has? Have you ever wondered why no other position gets nearly the same kind of ranking?  The question has been a debate for decades and could not be more evident in this past year’s Super Bowl as the news media raved about Peyton Manning.
