When Wes Welker finished with New England and joined Denver in the most unceremonious of ways last offseason, many Patriots fans were upset and figured he’d one day show the team and Bill Belichick what they were missing. Welker got that chance Sunday night when the Broncos visited the Patriots in Welker’s Foxboro return, but Welker actually ended up proving another group — the Welker naysayers — right instead. It was a tough homecoming for the wide receiver, and he even took blame for a key play in the loss after the game. Welker was in the action early, catching some passes as Denver rolled to a 24-0 lead on the back of a nightmarish Patriots first half. But he ended the night with an underwhelming stat line (four catches for 31 yards) and a few drops in key situations (his scourge — whether deserved or not — in New England). He was also in on the play that gave the Patriots the final bit of luck they needed to pull off the epic comeback and win. Welker was the return man on the l...

Wes Welker: 'I have to do a better job' on botched punt

It wasn't exactly the homecoming Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker envisioned. By the time it was over, not only did the former Patriot have just four catches for 31 yards (not to mention several drops), but he was also responsible for the game-deciding turnover. With just over three minutes to go in overtime and the game tied 31-31, Welker stood on his own 10-yard line awaiting...

Wes Welker Blames Himself For Game Deciding Turnover

Last night the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos put on one of the most electrifying Sunday night football games of the year. But it was a rough homecoming for Denver Bronco’s Wes Welker. Not only did the former Patriot have just four catches for 31 yards and several dropped passes, but the wide receiver was also responsible for a turnover with three minutes left in...

Wide receiver Wes Welker is active for the Denver Broncos against his former team one week after suffering a concussion. Welker, the Broncos' top receiver going into the game against the New England Patriots, was in uniform Sunday night two days after returning to practice on a full-time basis. But tight end Julius Thomas, with 10 touchdown receptions, was inactive with a knee...

Afternoon Delight: Wes Welker, Cold Spice

Listen, I love Wes Welker. We owe that guy for six seasons of greatness. Still, he suited up in a Broncos' uniform last night, with Peyton Manning, and ended up costing his team the game.As a Pats fan, it's hard not to be somewhat happy about that. I wish Welker the best, but I never want to see a former Patriot destroy us when they come back. It makes it sweeter when they...

Wes Welker full participant at Broncos practice, "probable" for Sunday

Receiver Wes Welker was listed as probable on the Broncos injury report Friday and is available to play Sunday night on the road against the New England Patriots. Interim head coach Jack Del Rio reported after Friday's practice that if there were a definite category on the injury report, a checkmark would go next to Welker's name. Welker sustained a concussion in Sunday...

Did Broncos’ Wes Welker Celebrate A Patriots 1st Down On Interception?

When New England Patriots cornerback, Logan Ryan, picked off Peyton Manning in the 4th quarter of Sunday Night’s epic game, everyone in New England (including players on the field) was signaling: First Down. As the screen shot below shows, one former Patriots player on the Broncos might have done the same. That’s right, #83, Wes Welker. Maybe Welker was still concussed and thought...

Wes Welker talks about revenge game vs Patriots tonight

Tonight will be the Wes Welker bowl as the New England Patriots take on the Denver Broncos. Wes Welker is one of the top 5 best receivers in the game today and probably the best slot receiver in NFL history. However, the Patriots didn’t believe that “Wes is more” or that you can in fact spell awesome without “W-E-S” and they let Wes Welker go. Maybe it’s for the best...

Peyton Manning after loss to Pats: ‘Very disappointing finish to the game’

The New England Patriots erased a 24-point deficit, and eventually took the lead, but a Peyton Manning touchdown pass late in the game forced overtime. Then a Ryan Allen punt bounced into Tony Carter, Nate Ebner recovered for the Patriots at the Broncos 13-yard line and Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 31-yard field goal with 1:56 left in overtime to give New England a 34-31 win over...

Denver Broncos have unhappy homecomings

At least there are no more homecomings on the docket for the Denver Broncos. Peyton Manning and Wes Welker both fell flat in theirs. A month after Manning came unraveled in his return to Indianapolis, Welker had his worst game of the season at New England. Returning to Gillette Stadium, where he'd spent the last six seasons as Tom Brady's top target, Welker caught just...

Sad Ron Borges is very Sad

You gotta feel for the guy. You know he was just relishing the chance to second guess Bill Belichick, only to have Wes Welker yank that chance away before you could even yell "Peter".Credit to Barstool for the screengrab.

Kyle Arrington’s Impressive Job Covering Wes Welker Among Five Takeaways From Patriots-Broncos

The Patriots’ second-half comeback is still unbelievable. Hope was entirely lost in the first half. The crowd was dead — the upper deck filtered out after the second quarter ended, the team looked uninspired and the mood in the press box was tepid at best, downright pessimistic at worse. The general consensus was that the Patriots had lost and that it was better that they finished...
