First off, Congratulations to the Baltimore Ravens for winning the Super Bowl.  Once again the Super Bowl showed that truly any team can win the "big dance."  As a team that stumbled to the finish line they were able to regroup and make one of the most historic playoff runs in National Football League history.Second off, the question is what it takes to be elite.  To answer that question one has to realize that there are two types of elite, Peyton Manning elite as in a quarterback who dominates in the regular season and wins the MVP every year.  Then there is Tom Brady elite as in a quarterback who has a pretty good regular season and turns it up in the playoffs.  Joe Flacco is officially the latter with a great postseason throwing eleven touchdowns and zero picks.Today almost everyone gets elite status and the truth is there are probably only four or five elite quarterbacks in the NFL.  So here it goes, sorry Pittsburgh, and New Jersey Big Ben is not elite, nor is Eli.  That might be a little to harsh Eli is playoff elite I'll give him that but Big Ben is well Big Ben and if Big Ben is your top QB you need to re-evaluate your life. Now Joe Flacco is not regular season elite and I'm sure most of you know that, but in case you didn't know I'll give you the stats.  Flacco had an 87.7 passer rating and had twenty-two touchdowns with ten interceptions.  Not what I'd call elite.  Though I'll say this, stats don't always tell the whole story sometimes you have to measure a players ability to control the line of scrimmage and hype up his players and in that regard Flacco also falls short.  I've never once watched a game and though "Wow Flacco is really taking of the game!"  Even in the playoffs i didn't feel as though Flacco had really become a leader on that offense.  Quarterbacks like Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, are the QB's who take over the game and that's why they're elite.  Along with their stats.  Networks never pan over to the Ravens bench and look at Joe Flacco pumping up the offense.Back to the elite question, a QB can't be considered elite after one season.  We get it D.C RGIII is second coming of Joe Montana he's the hero D.C deserves blah blah blah, no one cares!  RGIII still has to survive his sophomore season and history tells us that sophomore seasons for quarterbacks are most of the time pretty rough.Let's see what other quarterbacks aren't elite?  Oh Matt Ryan, Matt Ryan isn't elite in the slightest.  I'd rather have Flacco than Ryan.  Now, that doesn't mean Matt Ryan isn't good it just means I have my doubts.  He only has one playoff win, Flacco has nine.  Which makes me question his playoff abilities and he's too inconsistent for my taste.  Sure he did great this season but with easily the easiest schedule in the NFL and a bunch of great targets it's pretty hard not to look good, and I'm going to keep coming back to this, he needs results when it counts.Quarterbacks have the toughest job in the NFL, they are constant scrutiny they have to perform or they're out.  They have to control the line, be a leader, and be able to view the whole field without getting nervous or destroyed by J.J Watt.  That's probably why there are only five elite QB's in the NFL its a very hard job that only few can do it.
