Here's what happened: On the Redskins' first play from scrimmage in the opener, running back Clinton Portis gained 34 yards on a rush behind left tackle Chris Samuels and left guard Derrick Dockery. The play occurred after the Giants consumed more than 7 minutes on the game's first possession and took a 3-0 lead. I thought Portis's run was exactly the start the Redskins needed. And after such a big gain on a first-down rush, I figured the Redskins would then try a play-action pass. But Coach Jim Zorn called an end-around option pass for Antwaan Randle El. The Giants' secondary did a great job in coverage against wide receiver Santana Moss and tight end Chris Cooley.
