Bob Sanders wore the number 21 in Indianapolis and the number 21 in San Diego will always be connected with Charger great LaDainian Tomlinson.

So, what if Sanders asks to wear the number 21 here? It is not common for NFL teams to retire numbers and the Chargers only have the number 14 for Dan Fouts and the number 19 for Lance Alworth retired. LT’s number is definitely worth retiring, but if Malcom Floyd is allowed to wear Kellen Winslow‘s number 80, then I say go ahead and let Bob sport the number 21 with pride.

It definitely will be awkward to look out on the field and see the number 21 running around on defense. Best case scenario, Bob just says that he respects LT too much to wear the number and chooses to go with something else.
