Monday afternoon was pretty disgusting on Twitter. Members of the media and New England Patriots fans were fawning over the news that Peter King broke about Tom Brady’s new extension with the organization. It painted Brady as the most altruistic player in the history of the NFL. Why? Because the initial numbers released said “3 years for $27 million.” If that was a the actual deal, it would have been a historic win for the Patriots. But instead, everyone ignored the devil in the details and praised Brady and pat King on the back with retweets. Brady is such a great teammate! No. That had nothing to do with it. First of all, Brady isn’t taking a paycut. He restructured his deal, so that the team had more flexibility with the salary cap. Brady got friggin paid, handsomely, when he finally signed that actual deal. Yes, he is only going to receive $3 million in base pay over the next two years, but Brady is being paid $30 million in signing bonus money. That’s a ton of cash up front. What does that all mean?
